Fits Mobistel EL400 smartphone and replaces OEM battery part number BTY26170.
Delivers 3.7V nominal at 1500mAh capacity—sufficient for a full day on this basic phone model.
Connector slides straight into the EL400 battery slot with no locking tab or orientation confusion.
Bench testing showed the BMS accepted charge current without fault codes and held voltage under idle load.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle without using USB fast charging—the fuel gauge IC needs to calibrate against the new cell's voltage curve before accepting high-current input.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mobistel EL400 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTY26170)

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell for the Mobistel EL400 mobile phone. It replaces OEM part BTY26170 directly. If the original battery swells, fails to hold charge, or causes unexpected shutdowns, this cell restores normal device operation.

  • EL400 compatibility: The EL400 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a standard contact layout. This replacement matches that voltage rail and physical footprint — 66.00 × 43.50 × 5.00mm — so the battery seats correctly and the charge IC communicates without error.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the EL400 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without triggering a fault state, and the charge IC cycled through CC-CV without error across repeated passes.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and let the phone complete one full discharge-charge cycle. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean reference curve for the new cell before high-current charging runs against an uncalibrated coulomb counter.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on a replacement cell

A new Li-ion cell has a slightly different voltage-discharge curve than the aged cell it replaces. The fuel gauge IC on the EL400 was calibrated against the old cell's curve, so it misreads the remaining capacity. When the phone hits a load spike — modem handshake, screen brightness burst — the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the OS still shows charge remaining. One full discharge-charge cycle resets the coulomb counter and brings the percentage reporting back in line with actual cell state.

Phone warm near the battery compartment during first charge

A fresh cell arrives with higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. The charge IC pushes current into that higher resistance, and some of that energy converts to heat rather than stored charge. This is normal on the first one or two cycles and settles as the cell's impedance drops. If the phone stays warm beyond the third charge cycle, check that the charge IC is not stuck in a continuous CC phase — verify the port connection and confirm the voltage at full charge reaches 4.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The EL400 shows 25% battery and then shuts off without warning — why does this keep happening?

The fuel gauge IC on the EL400 was calibrated to the discharge curve of the old cell. A new cell hits a steeper voltage drop under modem or screen load, and the phone's BMS cuts power before the OS percentage catches up. Run one full uninterrupted discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption. That single cycle gives the coulomb counter a clean reference and the shutdowns typically stop.

After fitting the new BTY26170, the phone won't power on at all — the screen stays completely black.

If the replacement cell sat in storage, it may have dropped below the BMS lockout threshold — typically under 2.5V per cell. The EL400's protection circuit blocks current at this point and the phone won't respond to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it clears the lockout voltage, after which normal charging resumes and the phone will boot.

The battery percentage on the EL400 keeps jumping — it reads 60%, then 45%, then back to 55% within a few minutes.

Erratic percentage readings after a cell swap are a fuel gauge IC recalibration issue, not a faulty battery. The IC is interpolating against an old discharge model and the new cell's voltage response doesn't match those reference points. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles with the screen on and mobile data active — this stresses the cell consistently and gives the IC enough data points to rebuild an accurate state-of-charge map. The jumping should stabilise by the end of the second cycle.
