Fits eMachines D442, D528, E440, E442 laptops; replaces OEM battery CS-AC4551HB.
11.1V 6600mAh lithium-ion pack delivers 73.26Wh for portable notebook operation away from AC power.
Connector slides into the D442 battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed.
We bench-tested this cell against the D442 motherboard; the BMS charged to 100% and held voltage under moderate CPU load without early cutoff.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation-cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears inaccurate health warnings.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

eMachines D442 / E442 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 11.1V, 6600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in eMachines D442, D528, E440, and E442 notebooks. It slots into the same bay and connects to the same charge circuit as the factory cell. Capacity is 73.26Wh — matching the original energy rating for this platform.

  • D442 / E442 platform compatibility: These models share the same 11.1V three-cell battery bay, connector pinout, and charge controller handshake. One cell fits all listed variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge on the D442 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the charge circuit, accepted a full charge, and released current under CPU and display load without dropping into protective cutoff.
  • First-cycle reset on the D442: After installation, run the notebook on battery until it hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before use. This lets the BIOS complete its battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

BIOS reporting poor battery health after installing a new cell

The eMachines BIOS reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM and compares it against the original cell's logged charge history. A brand-new cell has no discharge history, so the BIOS flags it as degraded or unknown. This is a data mismatch, not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge — this writes fresh cycle data to the EEPROM and the health warning clears.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't been calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The OS reads a percentage based on the old cell's discharge profile and calls shutdown too early. The cell still has charge, but the gauge IC doesn't know where the real voltage cliff sits. Run two or three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by full charges — by the third cycle the gauge reads accurately and the early shutdown stops. Check that the resting voltage reads 12.4–12.6V after a full charge to confirm the cell is performing correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Windows show my eMachines battery as 0% or "plugged in, not charging" right after I installed the new cell?

The fuel gauge IC in the D442's charge circuit is still referencing the old cell's stored data. It doesn't recognise the new cell's state of charge until it runs a calibration cycle. Plug in and let it charge uninterrupted to 100%, then discharge fully to hibernate. After one complete cycle, the gauge resets and the percentage reads correctly.

My eMachines E442 shows the new battery as 47Wh in system info but the spec says 73.26Wh — is the cell wrong?

The Wh figure shown in Windows or BIOS is pulled from the EEPROM on the battery pack, which may be initialised with a conservative rated value rather than the actual measured capacity. The cell we supply is 73.26Wh at the chemistry level. Run two full discharge-charge cycles and the EEPROM updates its logged data — the reported Wh figure will rise toward the correct value as the system learns the actual capacity.

The charge stops at around 80% and won't go higher — is the replacement cell defective?

On some eMachines notebooks, the BIOS has a charge-limit setting that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress during long periods on AC power. This is a firmware control, not a fault with the replacement cell. Go into the BIOS power settings and disable the charge limit, or look for a battery health utility in the eMachines system tray. Once the limit is lifted, the cell will charge to the full 12.6V and 100% shown in the OS.
