Fits Essentiel B model 8001496, 8003132, and Comeback handsets replacing OEM battery part 8001496.
2.4V, 300mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers enough charge to restore full talk time on DECT handsets that lost capacity over years of use.
Battery slides into the handset pack slot with dual-pin connector orientation matched to factory design; locking tab secures flush against the housing.
We bench tested this cell on a DECT base simulator — the 2.4V rail held steady under standby draw and accepted charge from stock chargers without fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless batteries require slow initial charging to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Essentiel B Comeback / 8001496 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V, 300mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Essentiel B cordless handset range. It fits the 8001496, 8003132, and Comeback models. Physical dimensions are 29.60 × 20.93 × 10.63 mm, matching the original battery bay exactly.

  • 8001496, 8003132, and Comeback handsets: These three models share the same 2.4V two-cell NiMH pack format, the same connector orientation, and the same base-station charge circuit. One battery fits all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the base station charge circuit and confirmed the NiMH acceptance voltage triggered correctly. The protection circuit allowed full charge current from cycle one with no error flags on the base unit.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones reach rated capacity only after a slow initial charge — skipping this step leaves usable capacity well below 300mAh for the first few uses.

Base station showing no charge or error light on a new NiMH pack

Essentiel B base stations sample battery voltage before allowing charge current through. A new NiMH pack that has been in storage can drop below 2.0V, which sits under the base's acceptance threshold. The base reads this as a fault rather than a dischargeable cell. To recover it, hold the battery contacts against a compatible NiMH charger at a trickle rate (around 30mAh) for 20–30 minutes until pack voltage rises above 2.2V, then return the handset to the base — the charge indicator should activate normally.

Range drops mid-call after swapping to a new battery

DECT handsets draw a short burst of current each time the radio transmits. If the NiMH pack hasn't completed its conditioning cycles, internal resistance is still elevated and voltage sags under that RF load. The handset's transmit power drops as a result, cutting effective range before the battery is actually flat. Run three to five full charge-and-use cycles through the base station and the internal resistance falls — after that, the pack sustains transmit voltage and range returns to normal.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Essentiel B Comeback handset talk time is much shorter than the old battery — is the new one faulty?

Not faulty — NiMH cells in cordless phones need three to five full charge-and-use cycles before they reach rated capacity. Until those cycles are complete, the pack delivers noticeably less talk time than the original. Run the handset down through normal use each time, then return it to the base for a full charge. By cycle five, capacity should be at or close to the rated 300mAh.

The handset won't re-pair with the base after I fitted the replacement battery — what happened?

Some DECT phones store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully removed during a battery swap. The handset has lost its registration to the base. Go through the pairing procedure in your handset manual — typically, hold the base's registration button until the light flashes, then confirm on the handset. Once re-registered, calls and intercom function return to normal.

The handset is sitting in the base all night but the battery is nearly flat by morning — why?

The issue is usually seating, not the battery. If the handset isn't fully clicked into the cradle, the charge contacts don't make consistent connection and the pack discharges overnight instead of topping up. Remove the handset, check the base contacts for dust or oxidation, and reseat it firmly until you hear or feel it click. Check that the charge indicator light activates — if the light is on and the pack still drains, measure base output voltage at the contacts, which should read between 2.4V and 3.0V.
