This is a 6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH battery pack built from five AA cells in series. It fits cordless DECT handsets that originally used a 5-cell AA Ni-MH configuration. Check your existing pack's cell count and connector orientation before ordering.

• 5-cell AA series configuration: Cordless phones using this layout run a 6V rail to power both the RF transmitter and the handset logic board. The cells must match in capacity and internal resistance — mismatched cells cause early voltage dropout under RF load, which the phone reads as a dead battery.

A slow first charge lets each cell reach balanced capacity — skipping this step leaves measurable capacity on the table for the first several cycles.

Most DECT base stations use a delta-V detection circuit to confirm charging. A Ni-MH pack that arrives from storage below roughly 5.4V can sit outside the base's acceptance window, causing the station to flag an error instead of starting a charge cycle. The fix is straightforward: charge the pack externally with a basic AA Ni-MH charger until it reaches at least 5.6V, then seat it back in the base. The station's detection circuit should then recognise the pack and begin a normal charge.

Range drops noticeably after a battery swap

DECT handsets regulate transmit power directly off the battery voltage. When a Ni-MH pack sags under the RF load of an active call, the handset's power amplifier backs off to stay within its operating window — and range shrinks as a result. This is more pronounced in the first few charge cycles before the cells are conditioned. Run three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles and check whether range recovers. If sag continues past cycle five, measure the pack voltage under load — it should stay above 5.2V during a call.
