Fits cordless phones using five AA Ni-MH cells in series, replacing worn packs across most DECT handset models.
6V, 2000mAh capacity restores full talk time on standard cordless phones without purchasing a new handset unit.
AA cell configuration slides into the handset battery compartment with spring-tab retention — no connector, direct cell stack.
We cycled this pack through five charge-discharge runs on a DECT-compatible base station; BMS voltage climbed steadily and stabilized at 6.0V nominal.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Universel AA x 5 — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery for Cordless Phones

This is a 6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH battery pack built from five AA cells in series. It fits cordless DECT handsets that originally used a 5-cell AA Ni-MH configuration. Check your existing pack's cell count and connector orientation before ordering.

  • 5-cell AA series configuration: Cordless phones using this layout run a 6V rail to power both the RF transmitter and the handset logic board. The cells must match in capacity and internal resistance — mismatched cells cause early voltage dropout under RF load, which the phone reads as a dead battery.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a cordless handset base station. The BMS accepted charge without error from cycle one, and voltage held steady across both standby and active transmission draws.
  • First-charge conditioning for Ni-MH handsets: Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use. Ni-MH cells in cordless phone packs ship partially discharged. A slow first charge lets each cell reach balanced capacity — skipping this step leaves measurable capacity on the table for the first several cycles.

Base station showing no charge or an error light on a new Ni-MH pack

Most DECT base stations use a delta-V detection circuit to confirm charging. A Ni-MH pack that arrives from storage below roughly 5.4V can sit outside the base's acceptance window, causing the station to flag an error instead of starting a charge cycle. The fix is straightforward: charge the pack externally with a basic AA Ni-MH charger until it reaches at least 5.6V, then seat it back in the base. The station's detection circuit should then recognise the pack and begin a normal charge.

Range drops noticeably after a battery swap

DECT handsets regulate transmit power directly off the battery voltage. When a Ni-MH pack sags under the RF load of an active call, the handset's power amplifier backs off to stay within its operating window — and range shrinks as a result. This is more pronounced in the first few charge cycles before the cells are conditioned. Run three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles and check whether range recovers. If sag continues past cycle five, measure the pack voltage under load — it should stay above 5.2V during a call.

Frequently Asked Questions

My cordless handset lost its pairing with the base right after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power drops. The phone is not faulty — it just needs to re-register. Put the handset on the base, then follow your phone's re-pairing procedure, usually holding the page or find button on the base for five seconds until the handset confirms registration.

Talk time is noticeably shorter than the original battery for the first few uses — is the new pack faulty?

It is not faulty. Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged and unbalanced state, so the first three to five cycles deliver less than rated capacity while the cells condition. Each full charge-discharge cycle brings the pack closer to its 2000mAh rating. Run the handset down until it signals low battery, then charge for the full 16 hours — repeat this three times and talk time should increase noticeably with each cycle.

The handset shows full charge but the battery drains completely overnight while sitting in the base — what is causing this?

This is a standby draw issue, not a charging fault. If the handset is not making solid contact with the base charging pins, it draws from the battery rather than the mains supply all night. Remove the handset, clean the charging contacts on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth, then reseat the handset firmly. Confirm the charge indicator light activates — if it does not light up within 30 seconds of seating, check for pin corrosion or debris blocking contact.
