Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

V Tech LS6005 / LS6191 / LS6195 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT183642)
This is a 2.4V, 300mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the V Tech LS6005, LS6191, and LS6195 cordless phone handsets. It replaces OEM part numbers BT183642 and BT283642. Fit it when the original pack no longer holds a charge through a normal call.
- LS6005 / LS6191 / LS6195 platform fit: These three handset models share the same 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH pack format, connector pitch, and physical envelope — 29.60 × 20.93 × 10.63 mm. One replacement battery covers all three.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the bench. The Ni-MH cells accepted a full charge without thermal runaway, and voltage held steady above the handset's low-battery cutoff threshold across multiple cycles.
- First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base cradle and leave it for a full 16 hours before making a call. Ni-MH cells shipped from storage have partial charge — skipping the slow first charge leaves the pack well below rated 300mAh capacity.
Base station showing no charge or error light after battery swap
A freshly installed Ni-MH pack arriving from storage can sit below 2.0V total cell voltage. Some V Tech base stations read that as a fault and refuse to begin the charge cycle. The fix is to leave the handset seated in the base undisturbed — most units will begin a trickle recovery charge within 30 minutes once the base detects even a small voltage rise. If the error light persists past one hour, remove the handset, wait 60 seconds, and re-seat it to trigger a fresh detection cycle.
Range dropping mid-call after fitting a new pack
The LS-series DECT transmitter draws a current spike each time it handshakes with the base. If the Ni-MH cells have not completed their first full conditioning charge, internal resistance is high enough that voltage sags under that RF load — the handset steps down transmit power to compensate and range shrinks. This is not a fault with the battery or the phone. Complete three full charge-and-use cycles and internal resistance will drop to spec. Check open-circuit voltage after the third cycle — it should read at or above 2.4V off the charger.

Frequently Asked Questions
My V Tech LS6005 talk time is still terrible after putting in the new battery — what's wrong?
Ni-MH cells need three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. If you pulled the handset off the base early or only partially charged it, the cells never conditioned properly. Leave the handset in the base for a full 16 hours, then use it until it signals low battery — repeat that cycle three times. After the fifth cycle, talk time should stabilise at the pack's rated 300mAh level.
The handset lost its pairing with the base when I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?
Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some V Tech DECT models drop their pairing data when power is fully interrupted. Re-register the handset using the base's paging or registration button — on most LS-series units, hold the button on the base for six seconds until the handset prompts you to confirm. No tools needed; the process takes under two minutes.
The handset is draining overnight even though it's sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?
This is almost always a seating issue, not a battery fault. If the handset sits even slightly off-centre in the cradle, the charging contacts don't make a clean connection and the handset runs on battery in standby rather than drawing from the base. Remove the handset, wipe the gold contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth, and re-seat it firmly until you hear or feel it click into position. Confirm the charge indicator light activates on the base.
