V Tech LS6005 / LS6191 / LS6195 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT183642)

This is a 2.4V, 300mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the V Tech LS6005, LS6191, and LS6195 cordless phone handsets. It replaces OEM part numbers BT183642 and BT283642. Fit it when the original pack no longer holds a charge through a normal call.

• LS6005 / LS6191 / LS6195 platform fit: These three handset models share the same 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH pack format, connector pitch, and physical envelope — 29.60 × 20.93 × 10.63 mm. One replacement battery covers all three.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the bench. The Ni-MH cells accepted a full charge without thermal runaway, and voltage held steady above the handset's low-battery cutoff threshold across multiple cycles.

A freshly installed Ni-MH pack arriving from storage can sit below 2.0V total cell voltage. Some V Tech base stations read that as a fault and refuse to begin the charge cycle. The fix is to leave the handset seated in the base undisturbed — most units will begin a trickle recovery charge within 30 minutes once the base detects even a small voltage rise. If the error light persists past one hour, remove the handset, wait 60 seconds, and re-seat it to trigger a fresh detection cycle.

Range dropping mid-call after fitting a new pack

The LS-series DECT transmitter draws a current spike each time it handshakes with the base. If the Ni-MH cells have not completed their first full conditioning charge, internal resistance is high enough that voltage sags under that RF load — the handset steps down transmit power to compensate and range shrinks. This is not a fault with the battery or the phone. Complete three full charge-and-use cycles and internal resistance will drop to spec. Check open-circuit voltage after the third cycle — it should read at or above 2.4V off the charger.
