Fits ETA 2218 9000 Ergo cordless vacuum, replaces OEM part 2420 0270.
14.4V and 2600mAh capacity sustains motor voltage under sustained suction load on carpet.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab underneath.
We tested the BMS on a full charge cycle — voltage held steady, no early shutoff triggered.
Do not leave this cell on the charging dock continuously; trickle charge degrades capacity faster than removing it when full.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ETA 2218 9000 Ergo — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (2420 0270)

This is a 14.4V, 2600mAh (37.44Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the ETA 2218 9000 Ergo cordless vacuum cleaner. It fits the 2218 Ergo and Ergo 2218 model variants that use OEM part 2420 0270. Slot it in and the vacuum operates as it did on the original cell.

  • 2218 Ergo platform compatibility: The 2218, 2218 9000, and Ergo 2218 variants all run the same 14.4V rail and use the same battery housing and connector. No rewiring or adapter needed — the BMS handshake between charger and pack is identical across these variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the 2218 9000 Ergo's charge-discharge sequence. The BMS held cut-off within spec under sustained motor load, and the charger accepted the handshake without faults on a full charge cycle.
  • Dock charging habit on the Ergo 2218: Do not leave this vacuum sitting on the charging dock between uses. Continuous trickle charging on lithium cells accelerates capacity fade faster than normal cycle wear. Charge fully, then pull it from the dock until the next use.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor is pulling more current than rated — usually because a partially blocked filter forces it to work harder to maintain airflow. The increased draw causes voltage sag in the pack before the indicator circuit reads low, so the vacuum feels weak while the light still shows adequate charge. The BMS protects the cells by reducing output when the load spikes, which reads as lost suction. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest — most users find suction restores immediately.

Motor cutting out mid-clean and recovering after a pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a failed battery. When restricted airflow — from a clogged filter or blocked nozzle — pushes motor draw past the pack's continuous current limit, the BMS shuts output to protect the cells. After a short pause, the BMS resets and the motor restarts. The fix is clearing the blockage before the next run, not replacing the battery. Check the filter and the nozzle channel, then confirm the motor runs continuously at 14.4V without cutting out.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ETA Ergo 2218 keeps losing suction halfway through a clean even though the battery light shows it's still charged — what's happening?

Voltage sag under load is the likely cause. A partially blocked filter makes the motor draw more current than rated, which pulls the pack voltage down before the indicator registers low — the light reads charge level, not load stress. Clean or replace the filter and run the vacuum again. If suction holds steady after that, the battery is fine.

The ETA 2218 motor shuts off while I'm vacuuming, then starts again after I leave it a minute — is the battery dead?

The battery is tripping its own overcurrent protection, not dying. Restricted airflow from a clogged nozzle or filter pushes motor draw above the BMS current limit, which cuts output temporarily to protect the cells. Clear the blockage first — check the filter, nozzle, and any debris catch — then test again. If the motor runs continuously after clearing the restriction, the pack is working correctly.

I replaced my ETA 2218 9000 Ergo battery and now it's fading much faster than it did when the replacement was new — what causes that?

Leaving the vacuum on the dock continuously after each use is the most common cause of early capacity fade on lithium packs. The charger maintains a trickle charge once full, and sustained trickle charging degrades lithium cells faster than normal cycling does. Charge the pack fully, then remove it from the dock until the next cleaning session. This one habit change typically flattens the fade curve significantly.
