Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Eureka NEW400 Wet/Dry Cordless Mop Vacuum Cleaner — 22.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP22225B)

This is a 22.2V 2500mAh (55.5Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the Eureka NEW400 Wet/Dry Cordless Mop Vacuum Cleaner. It replaces OEM part BP22225B directly. When the original cell pack degrades and the vacuum loses suction sooner than expected, this is the swap.

  • NEW400 series fit: The NEW400 runs a 22.2V six-cell Li-ion pack with a BMS that monitors cell voltage balance and current draw from the motor. This replacement matches that voltage rail and connector, so the BMS handshake completes and the vacuum powers on normally without triggering a fault.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack under simulated motor load and cycled it through full charge and discharge. The BMS held within expected cutoff thresholds at both ends — no premature low-voltage shutdown and no overcurrent trip at motor start.
  • Dock charging habit on the NEW400: Do not leave the NEW400 on the charging dock continuously. Cordless vacuums on permanent dock charge develop capacity fade faster than those charged only when the pack is depleted. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the NEW400

This happens when a partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than its rated load. The BMS sees elevated current draw and steps down power delivery to protect the cells — suction drops even though the battery still shows charge. The battery is not the fault here. Clean or replace the filter, then retest. If suction restores immediately, the filter was the cause, not the pack.

Motor cuts out mid-clean then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the motor pulls sustained current above the BMS threshold — usually from restricted airflow — the BMS shuts the output to protect the cells. After a brief cool-down, the BMS resets and the vacuum runs again. Clear the filter and check for a blockage in the suction path. If the motor runs without cutting out after clearing the restriction, the pack is functioning correctly — confirm cell voltage is above 20V at rest before ruling out a worn pack.

Frequently Asked Questions

My NEW400 loses suction quickly but the battery indicator still shows plenty of charge — is the battery bad?

Not necessarily. When the filter is partially blocked, the motor draws more current than rated, and the BMS reduces power output to protect the cells — suction drops even with a full pack. Clean the filter and clear any blockage in the suction path first. If suction restores, the battery is fine; if the problem continues with a clean filter, check resting cell voltage — a healthy 22.2V pack should read above 20V off the charger.

The NEW400 motor cuts out during cleaning and then starts working again after I leave it for a minute — what is happening?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip. Restricted airflow — usually a clogged filter or a blockage in the nozzle — pushes motor current above the pack's protection threshold, so the BMS cuts output. It resets automatically after a short pause. Clear the filter and check the nozzle path for debris, then run the vacuum again. If it stops cutting out, the pack is not the problem.

My NEW400 battery seems to hold less charge than it used to, even after a full charge cycle — what causes that?

Leaving the NEW400 on the charging dock permanently is the most common cause. Continuous trickle current through a full Li-ion pack accelerates capacity fade in the cells over time. The fix going forward is to charge the pack fully and then remove the vacuum from the dock — do not store it plugged in. If the pack is already significantly degraded, replacing it with a fresh BP22225B cell pack is the only way to restore original capacity.
