Fits Falcon PSC 4220, PSC 4223, and PSC 4220-1011R barcode scanners with OEM compatibility.
3.7V 1800mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full scan and wireless radio power for logistics and retail environments.
Connector mates directly into the scanner battery slot with positive and negative contacts aligned for secure seating.
We bench-tested the BMS on dock cradle charging; the cell accepted full charge without fault codes or contact resistance issues.
On first shift after installation, place the scanner in its cradle for a complete charge cycle before heavy pick-and-pack use — the scan trigger and wireless radio draw peak inrush current when the cell is near minimum state, and a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS cutoffs during rapid barcode bursts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Falcon PSC 4220 / PSC 4223 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 1800mAh Li-ion cell replaces the factory battery in the Falcon PSC 4220, PSC 4223, and PSC 4220-1011R handheld barcode scanners. It restores full scan and wireless function to devices used in retail, logistics, and inventory workflows. Capacity is rated at 6.66Wh, matching the original pack's output specification.

  • PSC 4220 / 4223 platform fit: These three models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V supply rail, and BMS communication protocol — one cell fits all three without modification or adapter.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the PSC 4220's charge management circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without fault codes. Full charge current engaged immediately on dock insertion.
  • First-shift prep for pick-and-pack use: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before starting your shift. Scan-trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS cutoffs on the first heavy scan burst of the day.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

The PSC 4220 cradle reads battery state through gold contact pins on the base of the scanner. Oxidation or debris on either the pack contacts or the cradle pins raises contact resistance enough to trigger a charge fault. The dock interprets high resistance as a missing or damaged cell and stops charging. Wipe the battery contacts and cradle pins with a dry cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and confirm the charge indicator turns solid within 10 seconds.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The PSC 4220 draws from the same cell for both the imager and the wireless radio simultaneously. During rapid back-to-back scans, combined inrush from the scan trigger and radio polling can pull the cell voltage below the BMS hold threshold momentarily. The radio drops connection first because its voltage floor is tighter than the imager's. If this happens mid-shift, pause scanning for a few seconds to let the cell voltage recover above 3.5V, then reconnect.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PSC 4220 stops reading barcodes right after I put the new battery in — what's wrong?

The imager needs the cell above a minimum voltage before the laser or LED illumination circuit activates fully. A new pack sitting in a warehouse may have self-discharged to a point where the scanner powers on but the imager draw trips the BMS before a scan completes. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge it fully before attempting to scan — the BMS will hold imager power stable once the cell is above 3.7V.

My shift endurance with this replacement is noticeably shorter than it was with the original battery — is something wrong?

Scan burst frequency and wireless polling rate both affect how quickly the cell depletes, and these loads are higher in dense pick-and-pack environments than in light retail use. If the cradle charge cycle was cut short before first use, the cell may not have reached full capacity. Run two complete charge-to-full cycles in the cradle and retest — if endurance is still short, check that the wireless polling interval on the scanner hasn't been set to a higher frequency than your previous unit.

The scanner housing gets noticeably warm after a long shift — is that a battery issue?

Sustained combined draw from the imager and wireless radio generates heat inside the enclosed plastic housing, and the cell itself adds a small thermal contribution under continuous load. This is normal operating behaviour for the PSC 4220 form factor. The BMS will cut output if the cell temperature reaches its upper limit — if the scanner shuts off unexpectedly when warm, let it cool for five minutes and check that the battery contacts are clean before restarting.
