Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fluke 4600 Defibrillator — 12V Sealed Lead Acid Replacement Battery
This is a 12V, 2300mAh (27.6Wh) sealed lead acid battery for the Fluke 4600 Defibrillator and compatible medical test equipment. It also fits the Impulse 4000, RF303 Electrosurgery Analyzer, and Data Simulator 6100. Voltage and terminal configuration match the original specification.
- 4600 Defibrillator and analyzer platform: These devices share a 12V SLA architecture with identical terminal layout and BMS voltage thresholds. The same cell services the defibrillator charge circuit, the Impulse 4000 load bank, and the RF303 analyzer without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the 4600's charge controller and monitored BMS handshake at startup. The controller accepted the cell, completed the initialization sequence, and held voltage within spec under simulated discharge load.
- Power-on self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the 4600 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification pass at boot — cutting power mid-sequence triggers a false battery fault flag that persists until the next clean reboot cycle.
Self-test failure after battery swap on the Fluke 4600
The 4600's onboard diagnostics check resting voltage and internal resistance against stored OEM thresholds during each self-test. A new SLA cell that has not completed its first full charge-discharge cycle will present slightly elevated internal resistance. The BMS reads this as a fault and fails the self-test even when the cell is fully charged. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before treating a self-test failure as a genuine fault.
Charge indicator stalls below 100% on first charge
SLA charge controllers apply a conservative absorption voltage ceiling on cells with no prior cycle history. The 4600's charge IC holds the cell at float voltage longer than usual when it cannot confirm cell capacity from a previous cycle. This looks like a stuck charge indicator but is normal first-cycle behaviour. After one full discharge to approximately 10.5V and a complete recharge, the indicator will read correctly on subsequent cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Fluke 4600 is showing a low battery alarm right after I fitted a fully charged replacement — what's wrong?
The 4600's BMS compares resting voltage and internal resistance against a threshold calibrated for a conditioned cell. A new SLA battery that hasn't completed its first cycle presents resistance values outside that threshold, triggering the alarm even at full charge. Run one full charge-discharge cycle on the new cell — discharge until the device signals low, then charge fully without interruption. After that cycle, the BMS will clear the alarm on the next boot.
The 4600 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat unused for several months — is the cell dead?
SLA cells self-discharge in storage, and if the resting voltage drops below roughly 10.5V the 4600's BMS will refuse to boot as a protection measure. The cell is likely recoverable. Connect it to a compatible SLA charger set to 12V slow-charge or recovery mode and allow a minimum 12-hour charge before reinstalling. If resting voltage returns above 12.0V after charging, the device should boot normally.
The 4600 is shutting off unexpectedly mid-use after the battery swap, even though the charge indicator read full before I started.
New SLA cells have not yet reached full plate activation, so they sag under the defibrillator's charge-circuit load harder than a conditioned cell does. The BMS reads the voltage dip as a low-battery cutoff and shuts the device down before the indicated charge level would suggest. This behaviour typically resolves within the first 10 charge-discharge cycles as the cell's capacity stabilises. Until then, start each session with a confirmed full charge and avoid operating the unit when the indicator is below 75%.
