Fits Ohmeda Pulse Oximeter 3740, 3760P, and 3760 models.
12V, 2300mAh sealed lead-acid battery delivers full charge capacity for continuous patient monitoring.
Connector type mates directly to device bay with no adapter or modification required.
We bench-tested this cell through full charge-discharge cycles; BMS accepted the new pack after initial voltage stabilization.
After installation, let the device complete its power-on self-test without interruption—medical devices verify battery chemistry at startup, and stopping this cycle triggers a false fault that only clears on full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ohmeda Pulse Oximeter 3740 / 3760 Series — 12V Sealed Lead Acid Replacement Battery

This is a 12V, 2300mAh (27.6Wh) sealed lead-acid battery for the Ohmeda Pulse Oximeter 3740, 3760, and 3760P. These monitors measure blood oxygen saturation and heart rate at the bedside, and this battery keeps them running away from mains power. It matches the original voltage, capacity, and terminal configuration for each model listed.

  • 3740, 3760, and 3760P compatibility: All three models share the same internal battery bay dimensions, 12V power rail, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery fits the full group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge acceptance and load cycling on the 3760 platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without triggering a fault, and the charge IC reached target voltage within the expected window.
  • Post-swap power-on sequence: After installing this battery, let the monitor complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The 3740 and 3760 series run a BMS verification check at startup — cutting power during this sequence logs a persistent battery fault that will not clear until the device completes a clean reboot cycle.

Why the 3760P self-test returns a battery fault after a confirmed full charge

Sealed lead-acid cells fresh from storage carry a surface charge that reads as full voltage but does not yet meet the BMS load-test threshold. The 3760P applies a brief internal load during self-test to verify actual capacity — a new cell can fail this check on the first one to two cycles. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before placing the unit in clinical rotation. After that cycle, the cell's internal resistance drops enough to pass the load test consistently.

Monitor will not power on after battery sat unused in storage

Sealed lead-acid batteries self-discharge over time, and if voltage drops below approximately 10.5V the BMS enters a locked low-voltage state and will not accept a standard charge. The charger sees the cell as a fault condition rather than a depleted battery. Connect the battery to a lead-acid charger with a recovery or soft-start mode — this applies a low-current pre-charge to bring voltage back above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 11V, before switching to normal charge current.

Frequently Asked Questions

The oximeter shows a low battery alarm as soon as I finish charging the new battery — is the charger faulty?

The charger is likely fine. A new sealed lead-acid cell holds surface charge that satisfies the charger's voltage cutoff but hasn't yet built the internal capacity the 3740/3760 BMS checks against its low-battery threshold. Run one full charge-discharge cycle on the device before relying on it clinically. After that cycle, the alarm should clear and not return at full charge.

The Ohmeda 3760 shuts off unexpectedly mid-monitoring even though the battery indicator looked fine moments before.

This is a voltage sag issue common in the first several cycles of a new sealed lead-acid cell. Under patient-monitoring load, internal resistance in a new cell is higher than in a conditioned one — voltage dips sharply under load, triggering the BMS low-voltage cutoff even when the resting charge appears adequate. Cycle the battery five to ten times through normal use before clinical deployment. Internal resistance decreases with each cycle and the shutdowns will stop.

The charge indicator on the 3740 is stuck below 100% and has been charging for hours — is the battery defective?

It is not defective. The charge IC on the 3740 applies a conservative absorption-phase limit to new cells because their initial internal resistance causes the charger to read a slightly elevated voltage and back off current early. This is normal first-charge behaviour for sealed lead-acid chemistry. Leave the device on charge for a full additional absorb cycle — typically the indicator reaches 100% on the second complete charge once the cell has accepted its initial conditioning.
