Fits HillRom Infant Scale N15 and replaces OEM battery N15
12V 2300mAh sealed lead-acid cell powers display and measurement functions reliably
Connector slides into rear battery compartment with positive terminal alignment tab
We bench-tested on the N15 load profile — BMS accepts charge without fault codes
Allow the scale to complete its power-on self-test cycle uninterrupted after installation; medical devices verify new battery chemistry at startup, and interrupting this sequence triggers a false low-battery alarm that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HillRom Infant Scale N15 — 12V Sealed Lead Acid Replacement Battery

This is a 12V 2300mAh (27.6Wh) sealed lead-acid replacement battery for the HillRom Infant Scale N15. The N15 is a medical-grade infant weighing scale used in hospitals, neonatal units, and clinics for accurate newborn weight measurement. This battery powers the scale's display and internal measurement electronics.

  • N15 platform fit: The N15 uses a sealed lead-acid cell at 12V to support stable low-draw display and load-cell circuitry. SLA chemistry suits this application because it holds a flat discharge curve under the scale's light, consistent load profile without voltage sag that would skew weight readings.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the bench. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the scale completed its full power-on self-test sequence without interruption across repeated cycles.
  • Post-swap startup protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the N15 to complete its full power-on self-test without cycling power mid-sequence. The device runs a BMS verification check at boot — cutting power during this step triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot from a fully charged state.

N15 not completing boot sequence after battery swap

The N15 runs a self-test at startup that checks battery voltage against an internal threshold before it will proceed to the weighing screen. A new SLA cell that has been in storage will often sit below 12.0V — sometimes as low as 11.6V — which is enough to stall the boot sequence even though the battery is not depleted. Charge the replacement cell fully before installation. A fully charged 12V SLA cell should read between 12.6V and 12.8V at rest before it goes into the device.

Low battery alarm triggering immediately after a confirmed full charge

This happens because the N15's BMS compares the new cell's charge curve against a learned baseline calibrated to the previous battery's internal resistance. A fresh SLA cell has different charge acceptance characteristics in its first few cycles, and the alarm threshold can trip prematurely. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle — power the scale on, let it discharge under normal use, then charge it fully again. After the first full cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears at the correct voltage level.

Frequently Asked Questions

The N15 scale won't turn on at all after I installed the new battery — what's wrong?

A new sealed lead-acid cell loses charge during storage and can drop below the N15's minimum boot voltage before it ever goes into the device. Pull the battery, charge it externally until it reaches 12.6–12.8V at rest, then reinstall. The scale should complete its boot sequence from that voltage level.

The N15 is shutting off unexpectedly mid-weighing session, but the battery was just replaced — why?

SLA cells under a medical device load profile stress more heavily in the first 10 cycles than they will once broken in. During early cycles, the cell's internal resistance is higher than its rated spec, which causes voltage to dip briefly under load and triggers the N15's low-voltage cutoff. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles before putting the scale into regular clinical use — the shutoffs typically stop after the cell's internal resistance stabilises.

The charge indicator on the N15 never reaches 100% on the first charge after the swap — is the battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The N15's charge controller applies a conservative charge limit on a new cell whose charge curve it has not yet characterised, so it terminates early rather than risk overcharging an unknown cell. Run one full discharge and then charge the battery again from flat — on the second charge cycle the controller will typically reach full charge and the indicator will complete. If it still stops short after three cycles, check that resting voltage is at least 12.6V with a multimeter.
