Fits Kirk 50, Kirk 60, and Kirk 70 cordless phones, replacing original 3.6V Ni-MH handset batteries.
3.6V at 700mAh delivers the voltage and capacity this DECT handset needs for full transmit power and stable base pairing.
Battery slides into the handset slot vertically with no locking tab — connector seats flush against the contact plate.
We bench-tested this cell in a Kirk 50 base charger; the BMS accepted voltage within 90 seconds and showed green on first insertion.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Formerly KIRK 50 / KIRK 60 / KIRK 70 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery for the Formerly KIRK 50, KIRK 60, and KIRK 70 cordless DECT handsets. It replaces the original cell pack that powers the handset during calls and standby. When the stock battery no longer holds a charge, this cell restores normal handset operation.

  • KIRK 50, 60, and 70 compatibility: All three models share the same 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH voltage rail, physical footprint (45.00 × 31.10 × 10.50mm), and connector orientation — so one cell pack fits the full KIRK family without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DECT handset platform. The BMS held charge acceptance within spec and the cell reached rated capacity by the third conditioning cycle.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a continuous 16-hour charge before first use. Ni-MH chemistry in cordless phones requires this slow initial charge to condition the cells and reach the rated 700mAh capacity — skipping it shortens talk time from the first session.

Base station charge light not activating on a new Ni-MH pack

DECT bases use a voltage threshold — typically around 3.0V — to detect a valid battery before starting the charge cycle. A new Ni-MH pack that has been in storage can self-discharge below this threshold, causing the base to show no charge activity or an error light. The fix is a short trickle charge: some bases will retry automatically after a few minutes, but if yours does not, remove and reinsert the handset firmly to trigger a fresh detection poll. If the base still shows no activity after 10 minutes, check that the handset contacts are clean and making solid contact with the cradle pins.

Range drops mid-call after fitting a replacement battery

The KIRK handsets boost RF transmit power during calls, and that draw causes the cell voltage to sag if the Ni-MH pack is not yet fully conditioned. A partially conditioned cell may read adequate voltage at rest but drop below the transmit-power threshold under RF load, causing the handset to reduce range or drop the call. This is not a fault with the cell — it corrects itself after three to five full charge-discharge cycles. Complete each cycle fully: charge in the base until the charge light clears, then use the handset until the low-battery indicator appears before reseating it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My KIRK handset shows full bars after charging but the talk time is much shorter than it used to be — is the new battery faulty?

Almost certainly not. Ni-MH cells in cordless phones need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they deliver rated capacity. On the first cycle, it is normal to see noticeably shorter talk time. Run the handset down to the low-battery indicator each time, then charge it fully in the base for 16 hours. By cycle five, talk time should be at or close to the 700mAh rated level.

The base cradle light never comes on after I installed the replacement battery — what is happening?

The base checks for a minimum cell voltage before it starts charging, and a battery that sat in storage may have self-discharged below that threshold. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and firmly reseat it so the cradle contacts make clean connection. If the light still does not activate after 10 minutes, wipe the gold contacts on both the handset and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat again. Most KIRK bases will accept the pack and begin charging once the voltage reads above 3.0V.

My KIRK handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones clear their pairing data when power is fully interrupted. This is a handset behaviour, not a battery fault. Re-register the handset through the base station menu — on most KIRK models, hold the paging button on the base for three seconds, then follow the handset's on-screen registration prompt. Once paired, charge the handset fully before making a test call.
