Fits Avaya INDEX DT20, 20DT, WT9620, and 7420 handsets; replaces NT7B65KSE6, NTTQ47KAE6, NT7B80BXE6, NT7B65LDE6, and NT7B65LD battery packs.
Delivers 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH output; restores full talk time and standby hold on handsets that no longer charge to original voltage.
Connector slides into the handset battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation marked on the cell matches the INDEX DT20 polarity.
We bench-tested the pack on an INDEX DT20 base charger; the BMS accepted the cell within two charge cycles and held full voltage under RF transmit load.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries need a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Avaya INDEX DT20 / WT9620 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (NT7B65KSE6)

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Avaya INDEX DT20, 20DT, WT9620, and 7420 cordless DECT handsets. It replaces OEM part numbers NT7B65KSE6, NTTQ47KAE6, NT7B80BXE6, NT7B65LDE6, and NT7B65LD. When the original cell degrades and the handset spends more time on the base than off it, this cell restores full talk time and standby operation.

  • INDEX DT20 and WT9620 platform compatibility: These models share the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH rail, identical connector pinout, and matching physical footprint — 45.00 × 31.10 × 10.50mm. The base station's charging circuit expects a NiMH profile on that voltage rail, so chemistry match matters here.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Avaya base station charging circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the pack without error flags. Charge acceptance, termination, and trickle behaviour all matched factory cell behaviour across three consecutive cycles.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells shipped in partial-discharge state need this slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping it leaves capacity permanently suppressed on this platform.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

NiMH cells take three to five full charge-discharge cycles to reach their rated 700mAh capacity. On the first cycle, effective capacity may read as low as 60–70% of rated. This is not a fault — it is electrochemical conditioning, and it is normal for this chemistry on DECT handsets. Run three complete cycles in the Avaya base before judging talk time.

Base station showing no charge or error light after new pack installed

NiMH cells stored in a warehouse drop to low resting voltages over time. The Avaya base station charging circuit has a minimum acceptance threshold — if the incoming cell voltage is too low, the base flags an error rather than starting a charge. Remove the handset, leave the battery installed, and place the handset back in the base for 30 minutes. The trickle pre-charge stage should bring the cell above the acceptance threshold and allow normal charging to resume at 3.6V nominal.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Avaya INDEX DT20 handset is losing range after I swapped the battery — is the new cell causing this?

Yes, low NiMH cell voltage under RF load is the most common cause of reduced range on DECT handsets. When the transmitter fires, it pulls a short current spike — if the cell voltage sags during that spike, transmit power drops and range shrinks. This typically happens in the first few cycles before the cell is fully conditioned. Run three full charge-discharge cycles in the base and check whether range recovers to normal.

The handset stopped pairing with the base after I replaced the battery — what happened?

Some Avaya DECT handsets lose their pairing data when power is fully removed from the handset. This is a firmware behaviour, not a battery fault. Re-register the handset using the base station's registration mode — on most Avaya DECT systems this means holding the page/register button on the base for five seconds while the handset is off the base, then following the on-screen prompt.

The handset is fully charged in the morning but the battery is dead by evening even though I barely used it — why?

This points to a standby draw issue, not a capacity fault. Check that the handset is fully seated in the base cradle when idle — a partial contact on the charging pins means the cell is not topping up between calls and drains under standby load alone. Clean the charging contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, reseat the handset firmly, and confirm the charge indicator light activates within 10 seconds of docking.
