Fits SpectraLink 7480, 7520, 7522, 7540 and eleven other DECT handset models; replaces OEM part 84743411.
3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH delivers the voltage your base station expects on first insertion without initialization delays.
Connector is a two-pin vertical slot with left-side locking tab; orientation matches original battery contacts and seats flush.
We bench-tested this cell in a 7480 handset paired to a SpectraLink base — BMS accepted charge without fault codes and voltage held stable under standby draw.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use; NiMH cells need slow initial charging to reach rated capacity on the first cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SpectraLink 7480 / 7520 / 7540 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (84743411)

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery for the SpectraLink 7480, 7520, 7522, and 7540 wireless handsets, plus eleven additional models in the same series. It matches OEM part number 84743411 and fits the same physical slot and connector. Capacity figure is 700mAh (2.52Wh) as rated on the cell.

  • 7480 / 7520 / 7522 / 7540 series fit: These handsets share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH voltage rail, and connector pinout — one battery covers the full range without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a SpectraLink 7480 handset. The BMS accepted charge from a standard base station cradle on the first insertion, and discharge curves matched expected Ni-MH behaviour across the flat mid-range.
  • First-charge conditioning on NiMH cordless handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16-hour charge before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in storage state need a slow first charge to reach rated capacity — a quick top-up will not get there.

Base station showing a charging error on a new Ni-MH pack

SpectraLink base stations detect an incoming battery by measuring its resting voltage before starting the charge cycle. A Ni-MH cell that has sat in storage can drop below the base's acceptance threshold — typically around 3.0V — and the cradle flags an error instead of charging. This is a voltage floor check, not a fault with the battery itself. Reseat the handset, wait 30 seconds, and try again; most bases will retry and accept the cell once it registers above the cutoff.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

New Ni-MH cells do not hit rated capacity on the first cycle — it typically takes three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles before the cell reaches 700mAh. If talk time feels short in the first few days, that is normal conditioning behaviour, not a defective battery. Run the handset down to the low-battery warning, then return it to the base for a full charge each time. By cycle five, capacity should be at or close to the rated figure.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SpectraLink handset won't pair with the base after I swapped the battery — did I break something?

Some DECT handsets lose their pairing data when power is fully removed, which happens every time the battery is changed. The handset needs to re-register with the base station. Follow your site's DECT registration procedure — on most SpectraLink systems this means holding the registration button on the base while powering on the handset. Pairing is a one-time step after any full power loss.

The handset is draining completely overnight even though it's sitting in the base — what's wrong?

A full overnight drain from the cradle usually means the handset is not making solid contact with the charging pins. Check that the battery is fully seated in the bay first — a slightly raised cell can prevent the handset from sitting flush in the base. Clean the charging contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the handset and confirm the charge indicator lights up within 30 seconds.

Range dropped noticeably after the battery swap — the old pack reached further across the office.

Ni-MH voltage sags more steeply than a well-conditioned pack when the RF transmitter draws current, and a new unconditioned cell has higher internal resistance than a broken-in one. That voltage sag reduces transmit power, which shortens usable range. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles to bring internal resistance down. If range is still short after conditioning, check that the new battery voltage reads at least 3.6V off the base before use.
