Fits Fujifilm BC-150 and NP-150 battery slots on FinePix S5 Pro and IS Pro models.
7.4V lithium-ion cell at 1500mAh supplies continuous power to sensor, autofocus, and LCD display.
Connector seats flush into the camera battery door with a single friction-tab lock — no tools needed.
We ran five charge cycles through an OEM BC-150 charger; the BMS accepted the cell immediately with no handshake delay or fault codes.
On first use, insert this cell and run one full charge cycle in the camera body before extended shooting — Fujifilm's firmware maps capacity on the initial charge and may show erratic percentage readings until that cycle completes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro / IS Pro — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NP-150)

This 7.4V 1500mAh Li-ion cell replaces the Fujifilm NP-150 battery. It fits the FinePix S5 Pro and IS Pro camera bodies. Voltage and capacity match OEM spec exactly — 7.4V, 1500mAh (11.1Wh).

  • FinePix S5 Pro and IS Pro compatibility: Both bodies share the same NP-150 battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell works across both platforms without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the S5 Pro body. The BMS accepted the cell on first install, voltage draw was stable across autofocus, live view, and LCD operation, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff.
  • First-charge protocol on the S5 Pro and IS Pro: Run one full charge cycle through the OEM charger or directly in the camera body before heavy shooting. The S5 Pro BMS maps its battery-remaining display against a learned discharge curve — skipping this step causes the indicator to read inaccurately until the camera completes one full cycle.

Why the S5 Pro battery percentage display jumps after fitting a new cell

The S5 Pro stores a discharge curve profile from the previous battery. A new cell has a different internal resistance, so voltage readings at each state of charge map differently to the camera's stored thresholds. The indicator can jump from 80% to 20% with no warning, or stall at a fixed number for extended periods. Running one full charge-discharge cycle inside the camera body resets the mapping to the new cell's actual curve.

Camera body warm during extended RAW burst shooting — what's drawing the current

The S5 Pro runs a 12.3MP Super CCD SR sensor derived from the Nikon D200 body, and the image processor, dual-layer sensor readout, and buffer write all pull current simultaneously during burst shooting. This combined draw raises cell temperature faster than standard shooting. If the body feels warm after sustained bursts, let the cell rest for two to three minutes before the next sequence. Monitor cell voltage — if the camera shuts off above 6.8V, the BMS thermal protection has tripped, not low charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My FinePix S5 Pro shows a dead battery icon the moment I fit the new NP-150 replacement — is the cell faulty?

It's almost always a BMS authentication issue on first install, not a faulty cell. The S5 Pro checks the battery's initial voltage reading against its stored reference point, and a new cell sitting at partial charge from storage can fall outside the expected window. Place the battery in the OEM charger for a full charge cycle, then reinstall — the camera will accept it and display a correct reading. If it still shows dead after a full charge, check that the three contact pins on the battery door are clean and making full contact.

Shot count feels noticeably lower than expected — flash seems to be the culprit, is that right?

Yes, flash recycling is the single largest current draw on the S5 Pro beyond the sensor itself. Each full-power flash fires the capacitor recharge circuit, which pulls a sharp current spike from the cell — far above what the camera draws during normal shooting. Continuous flash use at full power can consume charge at three to four times the base shooting rate. Reduce flash output to two-thirds power when shooting sequences and the shot count will increase substantially.

Battery percentage drops fast in cold weather — is the cell losing capacity permanently?

No — cold temperature raises the internal resistance of the Li-ion cell, which causes the voltage to sag under load and the camera to read remaining charge as lower than it actually is. Capacity returns when the cell warms back up. Keep a spare cell in an inner jacket pocket when shooting below 10°C, and swap cells once the in-camera cell dips below 20% — the cold cell will recover as it warms and can be used again. Permanent capacity loss only sets in after repeated deep discharges below 3.0V per cell, not cold-weather use.
