Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Akai ADV-H8000 Pro — 3.7V Li-ion 1050mAh Replacement Battery
This 3.7V lithium-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Akai ADV-H8000 Pro digital camcorder. It carries a 1050mAh (3.89Wh) capacity and fits the compact battery bay on this model. Use it for video recording and playback sessions when the factory cell no longer holds a usable charge.
- ADV-H8000 Pro battery bay fit: The ADV-H8000 Pro uses a compact single-cell Li-ion pack at 3.7V nominal. This cell matches those voltage and physical requirements — 43.30 × 31.30 × 7.10mm — so it seats correctly in the bay without adapter modifications.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a cell tester, confirming the BMS holds the cutoff correctly at low-voltage threshold and that charge acceptance from full discharge behaves within spec.
- First charge via camera body: On first install, run one complete charge cycle through the ADV-H8000 Pro body or OEM charger before shooting. Some camera BMS systems only commit a new cell to the battery-remaining display after an internal charge handshake — skipping this step can cause the indicator to read incorrectly from the start.
Why the ADV-H8000 Pro battery percentage jumps erratically after fitting a replacement cell
Camera battery gauges map voltage thresholds to percentage bands calibrated against the original factory cell's discharge curve. A replacement cell with a slightly different discharge profile will hit those voltage thresholds at different points in its actual remaining capacity. The result is a gauge that appears to skip from 80% to 40% or stall at a fixed percentage before suddenly dropping. Running two full charge-discharge cycles in the camera body lets the BMS recalibrate its threshold mapping against the new cell's actual curve.

This happens when the camera's low-voltage protection trips before the cell is actually depleted — common when a new cell arrives at a storage charge of around 3.6–3.65V and the body reads that as critically low. The camera cuts power before you get any usable recording time. Place the cell in the OEM charger first, bring it to a full 4.2V, then insert it into the body. That single full-charge cycle is usually enough for the body to recognise the cell as healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions
The ADV-H8000 Pro shows "no battery" or refuses to power on with the new cell installed — what's causing that?
The camera's BMS authentication check sometimes rejects an unfamiliar cell on first contact, especially if the cell arrived below 3.7V after shipping. Remove the battery, place it in the OEM charger until it reaches a full 4.2V, then reinsert. One complete charge cycle outside the body is usually enough for the body to accept the cell and power on normally.
The battery percentage on my ADV-H8000 Pro is jumping around — it dropped from 75% to 20% in seconds. Is the cell faulty?
The gauge isn't measuring the new cell — it's reading voltage against thresholds mapped to the original cell's discharge curve. A replacement cell with a slightly different curve hits those thresholds at the wrong points, causing the display to skip or stall. Run two full charge-discharge cycles in the camera body. After that, the BMS will track the new cell's actual voltage curve more accurately.
Shot count is noticeably lower than expected — I'm getting far fewer clips per charge than the original battery gave.
The ADV-H8000 Pro draws from the battery across multiple systems simultaneously — image sensor, video processor, LCD, and any stabilisation active during recording. If you're shooting video continuously rather than in short clips, or using the LCD at full brightness, draw is higher than the rated spec assumes. Check that LCD brightness is not set to maximum and confirm the cell has completed at least one full break-in cycle, as a new cell operating below its full capacity on first use is normal and corrects after the first few cycles.
