Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fujifilm FinePix 1700z / 2700 / 2900z Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NP-80)
The NP-80 is a 3.7V, 1400mAh Li-ion cell that powers the Fujifilm FinePix 1700z, 2700, 2900z, 4800 Zoom, and a further twelve compatible FinePix models. It slots directly into the original battery bay and connects via the standard NP-80 contact plate. Voltage and capacity match the OEM spec exactly.
- FinePix NP-80 platform compatibility: All listed FinePix models share the same 3.7V rail, identical physical envelope, and the same three-contact interface. The BMS in each body communicates via the same voltage handshake, so one cell works across the full platform without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on FinePix hardware. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, voltage ramp tracked within spec, and the protection circuit triggered correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- First-cycle initialisation on FinePix bodies: Run one complete charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger before heavy shooting. Some FinePix BMS units only calibrate the battery-remaining display after completing a full charge from within the camera itself — skipping this step causes the indicator to read inaccurately from the first shot.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the FinePix display
The FinePix indicator maps voltage thresholds to battery percentage using a discharge curve calibrated to the original cell. A new replacement starts with a slightly different resting voltage profile, which causes the indicator to skip levels or jump suddenly on the first few uses. This is a display calibration issue, not a cell fault. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the indicator settles to an accurate readout.
Flash not fully recycling between shots on the FinePix 2900z and 4800 Zoom
The flash capacitor draws a sharp recharge current spike after each fired shot. At low state of charge, the NP-80 cell voltage sags momentarily during that spike, which slows the recycling cycle. You will see the flash-ready indicator take longer to reappear between shots. This is normal behaviour at the tail end of a discharge — charge the battery and the recycling lag disappears. If recycling stays slow on a fully charged cell, check that the battery contacts on the door plate are clean and making firm contact.

Frequently Asked Questions
My FinePix 1700z shows a dead battery icon immediately after I insert the new NP-80 — is the cell faulty?
Not necessarily. The FinePix BMS runs a voltage authentication check on insertion, and a new cell that has never been charged inside the camera body can fail that check and trigger the dead-battery icon. Put the battery in the camera, connect the OEM charger, and run one full charge to completion. After that charge cycle the camera recognises the cell correctly and the icon clears.
Shot count on my FinePix 4800 Zoom seems lower than I expected from a 1400mAh cell — what's draining it?
Flash, continuous autofocus, and the optical zoom motor all draw current beyond what the base shot-count spec accounts for. Heavy flash use in low light is the biggest single factor — each recycle pulls a current spike that isn't reflected in a simple mAh comparison. Reduce flash reliance where lighting allows and you will see a meaningful improvement in shots per charge without changing any other setting.
The FinePix 2900z camera body feels warm during sustained recording and the battery drains noticeably faster — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. Under video recording the sensor, image processor, and autofocus system all draw simultaneously, pushing total current demand well above the load seen during still shooting. That combined draw generates heat in both the cell and the camera body. Keep individual video clips shorter and let the body cool between takes — sustained heat is harder on the cell over time than brief recording bursts, so breaking up clips is the most practical way to manage it.
