Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Toshiba Allegretto M70 / PDR-M70 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PDR-BT1)
This is a 3.7V, 1400mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Toshiba Allegretto M70 and PDR-M series digital cameras. It fits the PDR-M4, PDR-M5, and PDR-M70 alongside the Allegretto M70. OEM part numbers PDR-BT1, PDR-BT2, and PDR-BT2A all cross to this cell.
- PDR-M and Allegretto M70 compatibility: These models share the same battery bay dimensions and 3.7V single-cell architecture. The connector orientation and BMS communication protocol are identical across the PDR-M4, M5, M70, and Allegretto M70, so one cell covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the PDR-M70 body. The BMS accepted the cell on first install, charge termination triggered cleanly at 4.2V, and the battery indicator tracked accurately through the discharge curve.
- First charge via camera body: Charge this cell in the camera body rather than a universal charger on first use. The Toshiba PDR-M series BMS calibrates its remaining-capacity display during an in-body charge cycle — skipping this step can cause the indicator to read full immediately then drop sharply mid-shoot.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the PDR-M70 display
The PDR-M series maps voltage thresholds from the original Toshiba cell's discharge curve to its battery indicator. A replacement cell with a slightly different discharge profile can cause the indicator to jump — showing 80% one moment and 20% the next without warning. This is not a cell fault. Run two full charge and discharge cycles in the camera body and the BMS re-maps its thresholds to the new cell's curve. After that, the display stabilises and tracks consistently.
Flash not fully recycling between shots on the Allegretto M70
Flash recycle time lengthens when the cell can no longer supply the brief high-current pulse the capacitor needs to recharge. On the Allegretto M70, this shows up as a noticeably longer wait between flashes — or the flash failing to fire at all — even when the battery indicator still shows charge remaining. The cause is voltage sag under load, not low state of charge. If a fresh replacement cell shows this behaviour, check that the battery contacts in the bay are clean and making full contact. Press the cell firmly into the bay until it clicks, then retest.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Toshiba PDR-M70 shows a "no battery" icon even though the new cell is installed — what's happening?
The PDR-M series BMS performs a voltage handshake on startup. If the cell has a low resting voltage from storage, the camera rejects it before authentication completes. Place the cell in the camera body and connect the charger for 15–20 minutes, then power the camera on — even a partial in-body charge raises the resting voltage above the acceptance threshold and clears the error.
Shot count on the Allegretto M70 is much lower than expected — is the cell faulty?
Shot count drops significantly when the flash fires on every frame, continuous autofocus is active, or the rear LCD stays on throughout shooting. These draws stack fast on a 1400mAh cell. Run a test session with the LCD off and flash disabled — if shot count recovers, the cell is working correctly and the draw from accessory functions was the cause. Adjust in-camera power settings to balance performance against shot count.
The PDR-M70 body gets noticeably warm during video recording and the battery drains faster than during photo capture — is that normal?
Yes. Video mode on the PDR-M70 keeps the sensor, image processor, and storage write path active simultaneously, pulling sustained current well above the intermittent draw of still shooting. The cell and body both run warmer as a result. If the body becomes hot to the touch or the camera shuts down mid-clip, let both the body and cell cool for 10 minutes, then restart — thermal protection in the BMS triggers a shutdown at roughly 60°C to protect the cell.
