Fits Pentax K10D and K20D digital SLR cameras; replaces Pentax D-LI50 battery pack.
7.4V, 1500mAh capacity delivers full power to autofocus, sensor, and image processing on each charge cycle.
Connector seats vertically into camera battery compartment; locking tab slides down to secure cell in place.
We bench-tested this pack in a K10D body; BMS accepted the cell on first insertion without authentication delay.
On initial install, run one full charge cycle through the camera body before extended shooting—Pentax autofocus systems map battery voltage thresholds to the new cell's discharge curve on first cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pentax K10D / K20D — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (D-LI50)

This is a 7.4V, 1500mAh Li-ion replacement for the Pentax D-LI50 battery pack. It fits the K10D and K20D digital SLR bodies, powering the sensor, autofocus motor, and image processing during shooting and playback. Capacity matches the OEM specification at 11.1Wh.

  • K10D and K20D compatibility: Both bodies use the same D-LI50 footprint, contact layout, and 7.4V nominal rail. The battery compartment, locking tab, and BMS communication line are identical across the two models, so one cell covers either body without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the K10D body and confirmed the BMS handshake completes correctly. The battery-remaining indicator populated after one full charge cycle completed inside the camera body.
  • First-install charge cycle on K-series bodies: Insert the new cell and charge it fully inside the camera body or using a Pentax-compatible charger before shooting. The K10D and K20D map their battery-level display against a discharge curve that the BMS calibrates on the first charge cycle — skipping this step causes the indicator to read inaccurately from the first shot.

Why the K10D battery indicator drops suddenly from half to empty

The K10D does not measure raw cell voltage in real time — it maps percentage against a stored discharge curve. A new cell with a slightly different curve shape can cause the indicator to jump from around 50% to near-empty without warning. This is a calibration gap, not a capacity fault. Running two full charge-discharge cycles inside the camera body lets the BMS remap the curve against actual cell behaviour. After that, the indicator tracks consistently through the rest of the discharge.

Camera showing dead battery indicator on a cell that still has charge

If the K10D displays a flashing battery icon and locks up shortly after inserting a replacement cell, the body has not yet accepted the new cell's resting voltage as valid. Power the camera off, remove the battery for 30 seconds, then reinsert and power on. If the fault persists, place the cell in the charger until the charge LED confirms a full cycle, then reinsert — the body accepts the cell once it reads above 8.2V at the terminals.

Frequently Asked Questions

My K10D shows the battery percentage jumping from 80% down to 10% mid-shoot — is the replacement cell defective?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The K10D maps its percentage indicator against a factory discharge curve, and a new cell with a slightly different voltage-slope profile causes the reading to mistrack until the body recalibrates. Run two full charge-discharge cycles inside the camera body without removing the cell mid-cycle. After the second cycle, the indicator stabilises and tracks accurately to the actual remaining charge.

Shot count on my K20D is lower than I expected — is something wrong with the cell?

Shot count varies significantly depending on how the body is used. Continuous autofocus, image stabilisation, frequent LCD playback, and burst shooting all draw more current than the CIPA test conditions that generate rated shot counts. The D-LI50 at 1500mAh is working correctly if it delivers a consistent number of shots per charge — monitor this over three to four sessions and compare like-for-like settings rather than comparing against a published figure taken under controlled conditions.

The K10D flash is taking noticeably longer to recycle between shots near the end of a charge — is this a battery problem?

Yes, this is expected cell behaviour. The flash capacitor recharge circuit draws a sustained burst of current, and as the cell approaches the lower end of its discharge curve, voltage sag under that load slows capacitor recharge time. This is not a fault — it is the cell approaching its cutoff voltage. If recycling lag appears early in a session rather than at the end, charge the battery fully and check that the terminal voltage reads at least 7.8V before shooting.
