Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gardena Grass Shears — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 2900mAh (10.73Wh) Li-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the Gardena AccuCut and ClassicCut Li cordless grass shears. These are handheld lawn-edging tools that cut along borders and shape grass edges — small, precise tools that run on a single lithium cell. Fits the AccuCut, ClassicCut Li, telescopic handle variants, and 9850-20 among others.

  • Shared battery rail across AccuCut variants: These models use the same 3.7V single-cell configuration and connector, so one replacement SKU covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran full charge/discharge cycles — the BMS held voltage steady under cutting load and tripped the low-voltage cutoff cleanly before cell damage could occur.
  • First charge after installation: Run the shears until the tool stops, then charge fully before the next use — this lets the BMS calibrate state-of-charge accurately from the first cycle.

Why cell dimensions matter in a compact grass shear housing

The AccuCut housing leaves almost no tolerance around the cell. This replacement measures 66.65 x 19.50 x 18.50mm — matched to the OEM footprint so the cell seats without forcing. A cell even slightly oversized can stress the housing tabs and crack the casing on reassembly.

Shears power up but cut weakly — here's what's happening

Weak cutting force in these shears usually means the cell is sagging under load rather than holding the voltage rail steady. An aged lithium cell loses internal structure and voltage drops sharply the moment the blade motor draws current. The blades move but lack the torque to shear through thick grass stems cleanly. Replacing the cell restores the flat discharge curve the motor needs to run at full speed.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Gardena AccuCut shears stop cutting after a few passes even though the battery shows charged — what's wrong?

At 3.7V single-cell lithium-ion, the battery management circuit will trip a low-voltage cutoff if the cell voltage sags under load, even when it reads "full" at rest — this is the most common cause of early shutoff on light-draw tools like grass shears after the original cell degrades. A replacement cell that's been sitting in storage can show the same symptom if it arrived deeply discharged. Charge the new battery fully, then let it cool completely before the first cut. If it still cuts out early, check the resting voltage with a multimeter — a healthy 3.7V Li-ion cell should read between 4.0V and 4.2V after a full charge.

The blades on my AccuCut are moving slower than they used to even with a new battery fitted — is that a battery problem or the tool?

Slow blade speed on a fresh battery usually points to one of two things: the replacement cell's internal resistance is higher than spec, or the blade pivot and gear teeth have built up enough grass residue to increase mechanical drag noticeably. We've seen this on bench tests where a high-resistance cell delivers the right open-circuit voltage but drops sharply under the load of the cutting mechanism. Clean the blade pivot and teeth first with a dry brush, then retest — if speed is still reduced, the cell may not be delivering current cleanly under load.

My Gardena grass shears sat unused all winter and now the battery won't hold a charge after I replaced it — did I get a dud?

This is a storage self-discharge issue more often than a faulty cell. Li-ion cells at 3.7V that drop below roughly 2.5V during long storage can trigger a protection circuit that makes the battery appear dead to the charger. Try a slow, uninterrupted charge for the full recommended cycle without interrupting it partway through — some protection circuits need a sustained trickle to recover. If the charger still shows no activity after 30 minutes, measure the cell voltage directly; anything below 2.5V means the cell is past recovery and the replacement itself needs to be swapped.
