Fits Garmin Edge 305 cycling GPS; replaces OEM part number 361-00025-00.
3.7V 850mAh Li-ion cell delivers enough capacity for full day navigation and performance tracking on typical rides.
Connector slides into the battery door slot with single-point retention; no locking tab present on this model.
Bench test showed BMS accepting charge at 500mA on standard USB input; voltage curve stable across 10 discharge cycles.
After fitting this cell, power the Edge 305 fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire satellite fix before navigation — GPS performs cold start after power interruption requiring 5–10 minutes for first fix.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Edge 305 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (361-00025-00)

This 3.7V 850mAh Li-ion cell replaces part number 361-00025-00 in the Garmin Edge 305 cycling GPS computer. It restores power to a device that tracks navigation, speed, distance, and performance data on the bike. Capacity matches the original 850mAh (3.15Wh) specification from Garmin.

  • Edge 305 connector and form factor: The Edge 305 uses a single-cell Li-ion pack at 3.7V nominal with a fixed JST-style connector and a BMS that communicates charge state to the unit's fuel gauge. The cell must match the physical footprint — 50 x 34 x 5.50mm — to seat correctly under the rear cover without pressure on the PCB.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Edge 305 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, the charge circuit terminated correctly at full voltage, and the fuel gauge registered accurately across the discharge curve.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the Edge 305 on outdoors in open sky and let it acquire a satellite fix before heading out. A full power interruption triggers a cold start — first fix can take 5 to 10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute once the almanac is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the Edge 305

The Edge 305 receiver can reduce sensitivity as cell voltage drops toward the low-battery threshold. This shows up as position drift or track lines jumping off the road on the map display. It happens because the GPS RF front-end draws more current at full sensitivity than the BMS allows near cutoff. Keeping the cell charged above 3.6V maintains full receiver performance.

Edge 305 shutting off without warning at low charge

After a battery swap, the Edge 305 fuel gauge is uncalibrated to the new cell. The device may show two or three battery bars and cut off abruptly rather than stepping down through a low-battery warning. This is a calibration lag — the voltage-threshold indicator hasn't mapped the discharge curve of the new cell yet. Run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles and the gauge tracks accurately, giving proper low-battery warnings before cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Edge 305 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Edge 305 holds some route and course data in battery-backed RAM, and a full power removal can wipe what's stored there. Saved history and course files on the internal flash are usually intact, but any data held in volatile memory is gone when the cell goes dead. Before the next swap, export your courses to Garmin Connect or a computer via USB so nothing is tied to the RAM.

Why did the Edge 305 take nearly 10 minutes to find satellites after the battery replacement?

Replacing the battery interrupts power completely, which clears the GPS almanac data — the unit has to perform a cold start and download fresh satellite positioning data from scratch. In open sky that takes 5 to 10 minutes on first lock. Subsequent power-ons with the almanac cached drop back to under a minute. Stand still outdoors with a clear view of the sky on that first fix — moving before lock is confirmed extends the wait.

The Edge 305 is draining noticeably faster during turn-by-turn navigation than it used to in standby — what's drawing the extra power?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver continuously at full sensitivity and keeps the display lit, both at the same time. Standby or track-recording mode with the screen off draws a fraction of that current. The 850mAh cell in this unit has a fixed energy budget — active navigation simply costs more of it per hour than passive logging does. Dropping display brightness one or two steps in the settings reduces drain meaningfully without affecting map readability outdoors.
