Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Nuvi 300 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (361-00019-02)

This 3.7V, 1250mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original power source in the Garmin Nuvi 300, 300T, 310, and 310D portable GPS navigators, along with six additional Nuvi models. It matches the OEM voltage rail and physical footprint at 37 × 60 × 5.20mm. Capacity is sourced from the product data at 4.63Wh — no inflated figures.

  • Nuvi 300 series compatibility: These models share the same internal battery bay dimensions, 3.7V single-cell architecture, and flat flex connector orientation. The BMS handshake on each unit reads cell voltage directly — no proprietary authentication chip to trip on a third-party cell.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Nuvi 310. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, held charge to rated capacity, and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without premature shutdown.
  • First-use satellite acquisition: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. Any full power interruption triggers a cold start — first fix takes 5–10 minutes outdoors versus under a minute on subsequent warm starts.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the Nuvi 300 series

When cell voltage drops toward the lower threshold, the Nuvi 300 series reduces receiver sensitivity to extend operating time. The GPS antenna draws continuous power for signal processing, and the unit scales that draw back as voltage sags. You may notice position drift or slower route recalculation before the low-battery indicator even appears on screen. Keeping the cell above 3.5V under load maintains full receiver performance.

Nuvi 300 shutting off without warning before the battery indicator reads empty

The battery gauge on the Nuvi 300 is calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. After years of use, or when a new cell with slightly different internal resistance is fitted, the gauge loses accuracy. The unit hits its hardware cutoff voltage while the display still shows partial charge. Fix this by running two full charge and discharge cycles — the firmware re-maps the discharge curve against real cell behaviour and the indicator aligns correctly by the third cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nuvi 300 lost all my saved routes and favourites after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Nuvi 300 stores saved routes and custom POIs in battery-backed RAM. When the cell is fully removed, that RAM loses power and clears. Map data stays intact on the internal flash, but any routes you built manually will be gone. Before your next swap, export favourites to the SD card via the device menu under My Data → Export.

Nuvi 310 took over eight minutes to find satellites after I put the new battery in — something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery wipes the assisted GPS almanac data the unit uses to predict where satellites should be. Without that data, the receiver runs a cold start and has to scan the full sky from scratch — that takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear view. Subsequent power cycles use the cached almanac and lock in under a minute. Leave the unit stationary outside for the first fix after any battery swap.

Why does my Nuvi 300 drain so much faster when I'm actively navigating compared to just sitting on the dash?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver at full sensitivity, keeps the display on, and recalculates routes continuously — all three drawing power simultaneously. In standby or map-browsing mode, the receiver duty-cycles and the display dims. The biggest single draw is screen brightness: drop it one or two steps in Settings → Display and you will see a measurable improvement in how long the cell lasts per charge.
