Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Nuvi 65 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (361-00056-01)
This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion cell that replaces part number 361-00056-01 in the Garmin Nuvi 65 portable GPS navigator. It fits the Nuvi 65, Nuvi 65LM, and Nuvi 65LM 6" among other variants in the same series. The cell measures 55.00 x 34.00 x 5.50mm and matches the original connector and form factor.
- Nuvi 65 series compatibility: The Nuvi 65, 65LM, and 65LM 6" all share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V supply rail — one cell covers the full group without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Nuvi 65 platform. The BMS held correct cutoff voltage at both ends and reported charge state accurately to the device's battery indicator.
- First power-on after fitting: After installing this cell, take the unit outdoors and let it acquire a full satellite fix before driving with it. The GPS performs a cold start after any complete power interruption — first fix takes 5–10 minutes outdoors versus under a minute once the almanac is cached.
Why the Nuvi 65 shuts off without warning at low battery
The Nuvi 65 battery indicator is calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell with a fresh curve — or an aged original cell that has drifted — can cause the indicator to read inaccurately at the low end. The device hits its internal voltage cutoff threshold before the indicator has stepped down to one bar, so shutdown arrives with no visual warning. Run one full charge and discharge cycle after fitting the new cell to let the indicator re-align with the actual discharge curve. After that cycle, low-battery warnings appear at the correct time.
Satellite lock taking much longer than expected after battery replacement
Removing the battery wipes the GPS receiver's warm-start data — the stored almanac, ephemeris, and last-known position that normally let the unit lock in under a minute. Without that cached data, the Nuvi 65 runs a cold start and must download a fresh almanac from scratch. Outdoors with a clear sky view this takes 5–10 minutes on first use after the swap. Subsequent power cycles revert to warm-start speed once the almanac is rebuilt and stored.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Nuvi 65 saved routes and favourites disappeared after I swapped the battery — is that normal?
Yes. The Nuvi 65 stores some navigation data in battery-backed RAM, and a full power removal clears it. Saved favourites stored to internal flash are usually retained, but active routes and recent destinations held in volatile memory are lost when the battery is fully disconnected. After fitting the new cell, resync your favourites via Garmin Express or re-enter any custom POIs you need.
The Nuvi 65 is draining much faster during active turn-by-turn navigation than it used to — what's happening?
Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, map rendering, and display simultaneously — that load is significantly higher than standby. If drain seems excessive, check screen brightness first; the Nuvi 65 display at maximum brightness accounts for a large share of total draw. Drop brightness to around 50% and disable unnecessary Bluetooth or traffic features if fitted. If the cell is still depleting unusually fast after those changes, the replacement cell may need a full charge-discharge cycle to settle its capacity.
My Nuvi 65 shows reduced position accuracy at the end of a charge — is the GPS receiver affected by low battery?
Some GPS units step down receiver sensitivity when voltage drops near the cutoff threshold to protect the cell. On the Nuvi 65, position scatter and slower fix updates near empty are consistent with this behaviour. The fix is straightforward — keep the unit on USB power during long drives so voltage stays in the mid-range. If accuracy problems appear earlier in the charge cycle than expected, the battery indicator may be miscalibrated; run one full charge-discharge cycle to recalibrate it against the new cell's curve.
