Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Prestigio GeoVision 5850HDDVR — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PL613450 1S1P)

This 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original PL613450 1S1P battery in the Prestigio GeoVision 5850HDDVR portable GPS navigator. It restores standalone navigation and location tracking on this vehicle-mount unit. Capacity is 1100mAh (4.07Wh) — matching the original cell's specification.

  • GeoVision 5850HDDVR fitment: This cell matches the voltage rail, physical footprint (50.86 × 34.00 × 5.73 mm), and connector orientation of the 5850HDDVR. The BMS handshake on this unit is straightforward — no proprietary authentication challenge between cell and device.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and load discharge on the GPS platform. The BMS held cutoff cleanly at the low-voltage threshold and accepted a full charge cycle without thermal flags.
  • First-fix cold start after fitting: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. A full power interruption triggers a cold start — expect the first satellite lock to take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced when the 5850HDDVR battery drops below 20%

At low state of charge, some GPS receivers step down receiver sensitivity to reduce current draw and extend remaining power. On the 5850HDDVR, this shows up as position drift or a slower position refresh on-screen. The GPS chip prioritises power headroom over signal processing at voltages approaching the BMS cutoff threshold. Keeping the cell above 3.6V under load holds the receiver in full-sensitivity mode.

5850HDDVR shuts off without warning before the battery indicator hits zero

The on-screen battery indicator on this unit reads estimated state of charge, not a direct voltage measurement. A degraded original cell has a steeper voltage drop curve, so the device hits the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 3.0V under load — while the indicator still shows one or two bars. Fitting a new cell with a flat discharge curve recalibrates the effective warning window. After the first full charge and discharge cycle on the replacement, the indicator reading and actual remaining capacity align more closely.

Frequently Asked Questions

My 5850HDDVR lost all saved routes and favourites after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The GeoVision 5850HDDVR stores some user data, including saved POIs and recent routes, in RAM that requires continuous battery voltage to retain. A full power interruption during a swap flushes that memory. Re-enter your saved locations after the first boot, then back them up to the device's internal storage or SD card if the unit supports export — that survives future battery removals.

Satellite lock is taking 8 minutes after fitting the new battery — was something damaged during the swap?

Nothing is damaged. Removing the battery causes a full cold start — the GPS receiver loses its cached almanac and ephemeris data, which tells it where satellites are expected to be. Without that data, the receiver has to scan the full sky, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear view. Drive to an open area, leave the unit powered on and stationary, and the first fix will complete. Every lock after that will be under a minute.

The 5850HDDVR drains the new battery noticeably faster when actively navigating versus just sitting on the dash — is the cell faulty?

The cell is working correctly. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver at full sensitivity, keeps the display on continuously, and processes map rendering — all simultaneously. Standby or a locked screen drops the display backlight and reduces receiver polling frequency, cutting current draw significantly. If drain during navigation is heavier than expected, reduce screen brightness to its lowest usable level and confirm the backlight timeout is set to activate between turns rather than staying permanently on.
