Replaces Garmin OEM part 010-10863-00, 011-01451-00, or 011-01451-03 for Zumo 400, 450, 500 series GPS navigators.
3.7V, 2200mAh lithium-ion cell delivers the same energy capacity as the original for full navigation and communication operation.
Connector slides straight into the Zumo battery slot with no adapter required; locking tab seats flush against the device housing.
We bench tested this cell in a Zumo 450 — BMS accepted the charge without fault codes and held stable voltage across discharge cycles.
After installing this cell, power the unit fully on outdoors and allow five to ten minutes for a cold-start satellite fix before navigation use.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Zumo 400 / 500 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (010-10863-00)

This 3.7V 2200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Garmin Zumo 400, 450, 500, and 500 Deluxe motorcycle GPS navigators. It matches OEM part numbers 010-10863-00, 011-01451-00, and 011-01451-03. Fit it when the original no longer holds a full charge through a ride.

  • Zumo 400 / 450 / 500 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V power rail, and connector orientation. The BMS handshake is passive — no proprietary authentication chip — so the cell seats and communicates without any firmware flag or rejection screen.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Zumo 500 unit. The BMS held charge termination cleanly at 4.2V and the low-voltage cutoff triggered at 3.0V with no erratic behaviour at either threshold.
  • First outdoor power-on after fitting: After installing this cell, take the Zumo outside and let it run a full GPS acquisition before your ride. A cold start after total power removal takes 5–10 minutes to get a solid satellite fix. Subsequent starts are under a minute. Skipping this step on the driveway means it may still be searching when you pull away.

Zumo GPS accuracy dropping at low battery

Some Zumo units reduce receiver sensitivity as cell voltage falls toward the low-voltage cutoff. The GPS antenna draws consistent power, but the receiver processing pipeline gets less of it. You may notice position jumps or a wider accuracy circle on-screen before the unit shuts off. Keeping the cell above 3.4V — charge before longer rides rather than topping up mid-trip — keeps the receiver running at full sensitivity.

Zumo shutting off without a low-battery warning

After a full power interruption, the Zumo's battery indicator loses its calibration reference for the new cell. It may read 30–40% and then cut off abruptly because the actual cell voltage hit the 3.0V shutoff threshold before the indicator caught up. Run two full charge-and-discharge cycles from 100% to auto-shutoff to let the firmware recalibrate its voltage-to-percentage mapping. After that, the warning screen will appear with enough margin to act on it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Zumo lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Zumo 400 and 500 series store some route and POI data in battery-backed RAM, which loses power the moment the old cell is removed. Routes saved to internal flash survive, but anything held only in volatile memory — active routes, recent destinations — is wiped. Before pulling the old battery, export your routes to a connected PC via Garmin BaseCamp or save them to the device's internal storage through the settings menu.

Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes after I fitted the new battery — was something damaged?

Nothing is damaged. Removing the battery triggers a cold start, which means the Zumo has lost its almanac cache and last-known satellite positions. It has to reacquire that data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Subsequent power cycles use a warm start and lock in under a minute. Take it outside, leave it stationary, and let it finish the first acquisition before riding.

The Zumo drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating versus when it's just mounted and idle — is the new cell faulty?

It is not faulty — this is normal operating behaviour for the platform. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, map rendering, and display backlight simultaneously. Standby or mount-only use idles the receiver and dims or blanks the screen. The load difference between the two states is significant. If drain still seems excessive during navigation, drop the display brightness one or two steps in Settings → Display — the backlight is the single largest current draw on the unit.
