Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TomTom One V1 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (GLASGOW / F54629631)

This 3.7V, 1350mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the TomTom One V1 portable GPS navigator. It fits the One V1 directly, matching the OEM voltage, connector, and physical footprint. Use the Capacity field figure of 1350mAh (5Wh) — that is the rated spec for this cell.

  • One V1 fitment: The One V1 uses a slim Li-Polymer pouch cell with a specific pin-out for the onboard charge controller. This cell matches that voltage rail and connector geometry so the charge controller recognises it without fault flags.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the One V1's charge controller and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, reached full charge without thermal events, and passed current to the display and GPS receiver under load.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. A full power interruption wipes the assisted GPS cache, so the first fix after a battery swap can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts return to under a minute.

GPS accuracy dropping as the battery level falls on the One V1

The One V1's GPS receiver draws the most current of any subsystem in the unit. At low battery voltage — typically below 3.5V — the device reduces receiver sensitivity to protect the remaining charge. This appears as position drift or slower recalculation, not a software fault. Keeping the cell above 3.6V during navigation maintains full receiver performance.

One V1 shutting off without a low-battery warning

The fuel gauge in the One V1 is calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell — or a worn cell — can cause the indicator to read 20% while actual voltage is already at the cutoff threshold. The device then shuts off without the expected warning screen. Running two full charge-discharge cycles recalibrates the gauge and restores accurate low-battery alerts. After the second cycle, the warning should appear at the correct voltage, around 3.5V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TomTom One V1 lost all my saved routes and favourites after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The One V1 stores some navigation data in battery-backed RAM, and a full power removal during a battery swap can wipe that memory. Saved routes and favourites held only in volatile RAM are lost on complete power interruption. Points of interest stored to the internal flash should survive. After fitting the new cell, re-enter your favourites manually — they will persist through future charge cycles from that point.

Satellite lock is taking over five minutes on the first use after fitting this battery — something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. The One V1 uses assisted GPS data cached in volatile memory to speed up satellite acquisition. When the battery is fully removed, that cache is cleared and the unit has to perform a cold start — downloading almanac and ephemeris data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors. Once the first fix is acquired, subsequent starts use the refreshed cache and lock in under a minute. Park the vehicle outdoors with a clear sky view for that first session.

The One V1 is draining this new battery much faster during active navigation than it did on standby — is the cell faulty?

The cell is not faulty — active navigation is the heaviest load state for the One V1. The GPS receiver, display backlight, and map rendering all run simultaneously, drawing several times more current than standby. Reduce display brightness to its lowest usable level in the device settings, which cuts the single largest power draw in navigation mode. If drain is still excessive, check that the screen timeout is not disabled, as leaving the display permanently on accelerates discharge significantly.
