Fits Omron Sigma 2 PLC; replaces JZSP-BA01 and JZSP-BA01-1 backup battery.
3.6V lithium manganese dioxide cell holds 1000mAh; maintains real-time clock and SRAM data during power loss.
Cylindrical AA form factor; installs vertically in spring-clip socket on Sigma 2 main board.
Bench test showed stable 3.6V output under float charge with clean BMS handshake on controller startup.
Hot-swap this cell only while the Sigma 2 remains powered and in RUN mode; powering off during removal erases programmed logic from SRAM and requires full program reload from your engineering software.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Omron Sigma 2 / SGDH Amplifier — 3.6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (JZSP-BA01)

This is a 3.6V, 1000mAh lithium manganese dioxide backup cell for the Omron Sigma 2, Sigma II, SGDH amplifier, and Sigma II/V Servo Driver series. It maintains SRAM program memory and the real-time clock when main power is removed. Without a functioning cell, both the ladder logic and timestamp data are lost the moment mains power drops.

  • Sigma 2 and SGDH platform fit: These drives share the same 3.6V backup rail, JZSP-BA01 connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers the full range listed above without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We seated the cell in an SGDH amplifier under load and monitored the backup rail. The BMS accepted the cell immediately, voltage held at 3.6V across the SRAM retention circuit, and the clock register stayed intact through a simulated mains dropout.
  • Hot-swap procedure for this drive: Always replace this cell with the servo driver powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the depleted cell while power is off clears SRAM instantly — the program is gone. If the swap happened during a power-off, a full program reload from the programming device is required before the drive can operate.

Why the Sigma 2 battery alarm persists after a confirmed good installation

On the SGDH and Sigma II platform, the battery alarm flag is latched in the drive's parameter memory — it does not clear automatically when a fresh cell is detected. After seating the new JZSP-BA01, the alarm must be manually reset through the programming software or the drive's parameter write function. Cycling power alone will not clear it. Navigate to the battery alarm reset parameter in SigmaWin+ and execute the write command to clear the fault flag.

New cell reading below 3.6V on the SGDH backup rail

Li-MnO2 cells ship at a storage voltage typically between 3.2V and 3.4V — this is normal for long shelf stock and not a sign of a defective cell. The SGDH float charge circuit will bring the cell up to its rated 3.6V within a few hours of the drive being energised. Do not swap the cell again based on an initial low reading. Re-check the backup rail voltage after four hours of powered operation — it should read at or above 3.55V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Sigma 2 lost its program after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

The program was held in SRAM, which requires continuous voltage from the backup cell to retain data. If the old cell was removed while the drive was powered off — even briefly — SRAM cleared completely. There is no recovery from the drive itself. Reload the ladder logic from your programming device via SigmaWin+ and re-enter any parameter changes made since the last backup was saved.

The clock on the SGDH amplifier is wrong after the battery replacement — what caused it?

The RTC register lost power during the swap if the drive was off at any point during the cell change. The new JZSP-BA01 restores the clock circuit, but it cannot recover the previous time value — that was gone the moment the backup rail dropped. Open SigmaWin+, navigate to the RTC setting, and manually enter the correct date and time, then write it to the drive.

The JZSP-BA01 battery is depleting faster than it did in previous maintenance cycles — what changed?

Self-discharge rate in Li-MnO2 cells roughly doubles for every 10°C rise in ambient temperature. If the servo drive enclosure has become warmer — due to added drives, reduced ventilation, or seasonal changes — the cell is discharging faster between service intervals. Check the enclosure internal temperature against the JZSP-BA01 rated storage range. If the enclosure runs above 40°C consistently, shorten your replacement interval rather than expecting the original service life.
