Fits GE Portascan PA00141 bladder scanner; replaces OEM part 110844, CSA19101, EE090279.
12V 3600mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full diagnostic cycle power for non-invasive bladder volume measurement in clinical settings.
Connector type matches OEM slot orientation; locking tab seats flush against scanner housing without force.
We bench-tested the cell on a PA00141 load profile; BMS accepted the new pack after one full charge-discharge cycle.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — medical devices run BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE Portascan Bladder Scanner PA00141 — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (110844)

This is a 12V 3600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the GE Portascan Bladder Scanner PA00141. It fits the portable ultrasound unit used in clinical settings to measure bladder volume non-invasively. Cross-references OEM part numbers 110844, CSA19101, and EE090279.

  • PA00141 platform fit: The Portascan PA00141 uses a fixed 12V Ni-MH pack with a proprietary connector and BMS handshake. This replacement matches the voltage rail and cell count that the scanner's charge IC expects. Swapping to a different voltage or chemistry will trigger a hardware fault on startup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a simulated PA00141 load profile. The BMS completed its initialisation sequence without fault codes, and the cell stack held stable voltage through the full discharge curve. One full charge-discharge cycle before clinical deployment is recommended so the BMS can complete its learn routine.
  • Startup self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the PA00141 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The scanner's BMS runs a verification check at boot. Cutting power during that sequence registers a battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot — even if the pack is fully charged.

Why the PA00141 alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge

The PA00141's charge management IC stores a capacity baseline from the previous OEM cell. A new replacement pack has not yet completed a full charge-discharge cycle, so the BMS has no learned reference for the new cell's internal resistance profile. Until that reference is established, the scanner applies its conservative OEM threshold and flags the pack as below minimum. Run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle on the bench before putting the unit back into rotation — the alarm clears after the BMS updates its baseline.

Scanner will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day unprotected. A pack that has been stored for several weeks can drop below the PA00141's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 10V for a 12V Ni-MH stack — at which point the BMS locks out discharge to prevent cell reversal. Connect the battery to the PA00141 charger for a full uninterrupted charge session before attempting to power on the device. If the charger's indicator does not advance past the first stage, leave it connected for a minimum of 90 minutes to allow the charge IC to trickle the cells back above the recovery floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PA00141 is shutting off mid-scan even though the battery shows charged — what's causing this?

New Ni-MH cells have higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, and the PA00141's ultrasound transducer draws a sharp load spike each time it fires. That spike causes a momentary voltage sag that the BMS interprets as end-of-discharge and trips the cutoff. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles on the unit before returning it to clinical use — cell resistance drops with each cycle and the sag narrows. After conditioning, the pack should hold above the 10.5V cutoff threshold under normal scan load.

The charge indicator on the PA00141 is not reaching 100% on the first charge with the new battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the pack. The PA00141's charge IC applies a conservative current limit on cells it has not yet profiled, so the first charge terminates slightly early as a safety measure. Remove the battery, let it rest for 10 minutes, then reinsert and start a second full charge. The IC re-evaluates the cell's delta-V response on the second pass and typically reaches a complete charge termination — confirmed when the indicator holds steady at full and the charger drops to maintenance current.

The PA00141 failed its self-test immediately after we swapped in the new battery — the unit is flagging a battery fault but the pack is charged. What's the fix?

The BMS stores the previous cell's internal resistance signature and compares it at boot. A new cell reads differently, and the mismatch trips a self-test fault before the scanner has a chance to learn the replacement pack. Power the unit off completely, remove the battery for 30 seconds, reinsert it, and allow the full boot sequence to run without touching any controls. If the fault clears, complete one full charge-discharge cycle — the BMS will write a new baseline and the self-test will pass cleanly on subsequent boots.
