GEZE controller loses its door programming after every power outage

The SMD and TSA-series controllers store door parameters — open width, hold-open time, obstruction sensitivity — in volatile RAM. That RAM is kept alive by the backup battery even when mains power is off. When the backup battery depletes fully, the RAM loses power and all settings reset to factory defaults at the next power-up. Replacing the battery and re-entering the door settings resolves this. After replacement, confirm the backup battery reads at or above 12.0V before closing the controller housing.

The GEZE SMD backup battery indicator light never goes green after I fitted a new cell — what is wrong?

The SMD backup circuit requires a sustained charge acceptance above a minimum current threshold before it flags the battery as healthy. If the battery arrived partially discharged from storage, the controller may not recognise it as a valid backup source until it has completed a full charge cycle — typically 14 to 24 hours on the internal charger. Leave the door on mains power for 24 hours, then check the indicator again. If it still does not go green, check that both connector terminals are fully seated and free of oxidation.
