Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GIONEE GN5001 / V187 Series — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BL-N4000)
This is a 3.8V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the GIONEE GN5001, GN5001S, GN5001L, and V187 smartphones. OEM part number BL-N4000. It fits when the original cell has degraded, lost hold-time, or will no longer accept a charge.
- GN5001 / GN5001S / GN5001L / V187 fit group: These four models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and charge management IC handshake. One cell covers all four — no adapter or modification needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and load discharge on the GN5001 platform. The BMS accepted the charge curve without fault flags, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: On first use after fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. One slow cycle lets it re-map against the new cell before high-current charging begins.
Why the GN5001 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The GN5001 uses a coulomb-counter-based fuel gauge IC that builds its capacity model over charge cycles on the original cell. When you fit a new cell, the IC still references the old discharge curve. This causes the percentage readout to jump, stall, or show full charge at voltages that do not match real cell state. One full discharge to automatic shutdown — then a complete charge to 100% at standard rate — forces the IC to reset its reference points against the new cell. After that single cycle, percentage tracking stabilises.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the cell voltage drops below what the modem or display backlight needs under peak load, even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. A fresh Li-Polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance before it beds in, which amplifies the voltage sag during high-draw moments. The phone's under-voltage protection cuts power before the OS can log a proper shutdown. Two to three full charge-discharge cycles reduce cell impedance and close the gap — if shutdowns persist past the third cycle, measure resting cell voltage after a full charge; it should read at or above 4.18V.

Frequently Asked Questions
The phone powers on fine but shuts off suddenly at around 25% — is the new battery faulty?
Not necessarily faulty. A fresh Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance before it breaks in, so voltage sags sharply under modem or screen load even when charge remains. The phone's protection circuit reads that voltage cliff as an under-voltage condition and cuts power. Run two to three full discharge-charge cycles at standard rate — impedance drops and the shutdowns typically stop. If the fault persists after three cycles, check resting voltage after a full charge; a healthy cell reads at or above 4.18V.
Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in after fitting this battery — what's wrong?
On the first connection after a cell swap, the charge IC re-negotiates the charging protocol with the new BMS. Some proprietary fast-charge protocols on GIONEE devices will fall back to standard 5V charging on that first cycle as a precaution. Disconnect the cable, let the phone sit for 30 seconds, then reconnect. If fast charge still does not engage, complete one full standard-rate charge cycle first — most charge ICs re-enable the high-current path automatically on the second cycle once the BMS has completed its initial calibration pass.
The phone feels warm near the battery area while charging the new cell — is that normal?
A new high-impedance cell converts slightly more charge energy into heat during the first few charge cycles compared to a bedded-in cell. This surface warmth during charging is expected and reduces after two or three cycles as internal impedance settles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, or if charging stops before 100%, remove the charger and let the device cool before resuming. Warmth that persists beyond the third full cycle warrants checking the charge cable and adaptor output — keep adaptor output at the rated voltage, typically 5V standard or 9V fast charge for this platform.
