Fits GoBandit LIFE and RACE GPS navigators; replaces OEM battery CS-FKF40SL.
3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion cell delivers 4.07Wh — sufficient for 3–5 hours field navigation on active tracking.
Connector seats into the vertical battery slot with plastic locking tab; orientation marked on housing.
We ran discharge curves on the LIFE unit; BMS voltage response flat until cutoff threshold, then rapid dropout.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GoBandit LIFE / RACE — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion cell for the GoBandit LIFE and RACE portable GPS navigators. It replaces the original internal battery when capacity has dropped or the unit no longer holds a charge. Dimensions are 52.20 × 35.30 × 7.10mm — confirm these against your existing cell before fitting.

  • LIFE and RACE compatibility: Both units share the same battery footprint, voltage rail, and connector layout. One cell covers either model without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the GoBandit platform. The protection circuit responded correctly at low-voltage cutoff and held stable voltage through the GPS receiver's active navigation load.
  • First fix after power interruption: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a full satellite fix before you navigate. A cold start after complete power removal takes 5–10 minutes for first fix. Subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute once the almanac is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the LIFE unit

When cell voltage drops toward 3.5V, some GoBandit LIFE units reduce receiver sensitivity to lower current draw. This shows up as wider position scatter or difficulty holding a fix under tree cover. The GPS isn't broken — it's running a power-saving mode triggered by voltage, not by the on-screen indicator. Replacing the battery restores full receiver power and tightens positional accuracy.

GoBandit LIFE shutting off without warning before the indicator hits empty

The on-screen battery gauge on the LIFE is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. An aged or third-party cell with a slightly different curve causes the device to hit its hardware voltage cutoff before the visual indicator reaches zero. The unit cuts power abruptly with no low-battery alert. Charge the replacement cell fully, then run one complete discharge cycle so the firmware recalibrates its cutoff estimate to the new cell's actual 3.0V floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GoBandit LIFE lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The LIFE stores route and POI data in RAM that relies on continuous battery power. A full power removal — like a battery swap — clears anything held in volatile memory. Data saved to internal flash survives, but unsaved routes do not. Before pulling the battery, export routes to a connected device or the GoBandit app so nothing is lost.

Satellite lock is taking over five minutes after fitting the new battery — was the cell faulty?

The cell is fine. After a complete power interruption the GPS chip loses its cached almanac and ephemeris data, forcing a cold start. Cold start on the GoBandit LIFE typically takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with clear sky view. Subsequent power cycles warm-start in under a minute once the almanac rebuilds. Stand outside away from buildings on first power-on and let the fix complete before you move.

The GoBandit LIFE drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating than when it's just sitting idle — is the battery undersized?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver and the display simultaneously — that load is several times higher than standby. The LIFE's display brightness is the biggest variable: drop brightness to the lowest usable level during navigation and the drain rate falls significantly. The 1100mAh capacity matches the original spec, so a higher-than-standby drain during active use is expected behaviour, not a cell defect.
