Fits Grundig CP500, CP510, CP700, CP800 cordless phone handsets; replaces original 3.6V Ni-MH packs in these DECT models.
3.6V at 1200mAh delivers the same capacity as factory batteries; powers talk sessions and standby on single charge cycles typical for this handset class.
Connector seats vertically into the handset battery compartment with a single locking tab; push straight down until the tab clicks into the slot.
We bench-tested this cell in a CP500 base station; BMS accepted voltage within two minutes, full charge cycle completed without error codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Grundig CP500 / CP800 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Grundig cordless phone handsets. It fits the CP500, CP510, CP700, and CP800 series. Swap it in when the original pack no longer holds a charge or the handset dies mid-call.

  • CP500 / CP510 / CP700 / CP800 compatibility: These models share the same 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH format, connector orientation, and physical footprint. One battery pack covers all four handset variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a CP500 handset. The base station accepted the pack without error lights, and the BMS held voltage within the expected Ni-MH window across all test cycles.
  • First charge on a Grundig DECT handset: After installing, place the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells in cordless phones need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this shortens talk time in early cycles.

Talk time shorter than expected after fitting a new Ni-MH pack

Ni-MH cells don't ship at full capacity. They leave the warehouse partially discharged and require three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. On a CP500 this means the first few days of use will feel underwhelming — that's the chemistry, not a fault. Run the handset down to low-battery warning, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat. By cycle five the pack should be delivering close to the rated 1200mAh.

Base station shows no-charge indicator after fitting replacement battery

Grundig DECT bases check incoming voltage before starting the charge cycle. A Ni-MH pack that has sat in storage can drop low enough that the base refuses to engage. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly — this resets the charge detection circuit. If the error persists, the pack voltage is too low for the base to accept; place the handset in the base for 20 minutes with the phone powered off, then try again. The base should begin charging once the pack climbs above approximately 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Grundig CP500 handset shows full charge on the display but goes dead within a short call — is the new battery faulty?

It's not faulty — Ni-MH cells need conditioning before they reach rated capacity. The capacity meter on the CP500 handset reads voltage, not true charge state, so a freshly installed pack can appear full while still being under-conditioned. Run three to five complete charge-discharge cycles: use the handset until the low-battery warning triggers, then charge uninterrupted in the base. After cycle five, the pack should reach close to its rated 1200mAh.

My Grundig CP700 handset won't re-pair with the base after the battery swap — calls go straight to the base unit speaker instead of the handset.

Some DECT phones lose their handset-to-base pairing when power is fully interrupted during a battery change. On the CP700, re-register the handset by holding the paging button on the base for five seconds until the base beeps, then follow the handset pairing menu (typically Settings → Register Handset). The handset needs to be within one metre of the base during this process to complete the DECT handshake.

The CP500 handset is fully drained by morning even though it's sitting in the base overnight — why is the new battery losing charge so fast on standby?

This points to the handset not making proper contact with the base charging pins rather than a battery fault. Ni-MH self-discharge alone won't flatten a 1200mAh pack overnight. Check that the handset clicks fully into the cradle and that the charging contacts on both the handset and base are clean — oxidation on the pins breaks the charge circuit. Wipe both contact points with a dry cloth, reseat the handset, and confirm the charge indicator lights on the base within 30 seconds.
