Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Honeywell BW Icon+ Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (M05-3001-000)
This 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces part number M05-3001-000 in the Honeywell BW Icon+ 4 Gas Detector. It fits the Icon+, Flex, and Icon models used for simultaneous H2S, CO, O2, and LEL detection. At 66.20 x 51.10 x 12.20mm, it seats directly into the existing battery bay without modification.
- Icon+, Flex, and Icon compatibility: All three models share the same 3.7V power rail, M05-3001-000 connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol. Swapping across models in this family works without firmware conflict or charge-circuit mismatch.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge-discharge cycles on the BW Icon+ platform, monitoring BMS response during the four-sensor initialisation sequence. The pack held voltage without triggering a low-battery cutoff at sensor start-up.
- Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this battery, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment. The Icon+ maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during your first monitoring session in the field.
BMS lockout after the BW Icon+ sat unused in a carry case for months
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge slowly in storage. If the pack voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a protective lockout state and the instrument will not respond to the power button. A standard charger may also refuse to initiate a charge cycle because it reads the pack as faulted. To recover, connect the instrument to its dock charger and leave it for 30–60 minutes without pressing anything — the charger's trickle-charge stage brings the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold before the main charge cycle begins.
Voltage dropout mid-session causing sensor readings to reset or freeze
The BW Icon+ runs four electrochemical sensors simultaneously, and sustained load across all channels draws more current than any single-sensor device. If the cell is partially depleted, this sustained draw can pull bus voltage below the instrument's operational floor, triggering a mid-session reset without a low-battery warning first. This is not a firmware fault — it is a cell capacity issue. Confirm the pack is charging fully to 4.2V at the terminal before each shift to avoid this during active monitoring.

Frequently Asked Questions
The BW Icon+ powers on fine but shuts itself off the moment all four sensors finish initialising — is this the battery?
Yes, this is a known failure mode with a degraded or deeply discharged pack. All four sensors draw current simultaneously during the initialisation handshake, and the combined spike can exceed what a weakened cell can deliver, tripping the BMS cutoff. A new pack at full charge handles this surge without dropping out. Charge fully to 4.2V at the terminal before powering on for the first time.
The battery percentage on the BW Icon+ display jumps around erratically after a restart — it shows 80%, then drops to 20% within a few minutes of use.
The Icon+ uses a voltage-threshold indicator rather than a coulomb counter, so it reads percentage by mapping real-time cell voltage against a reference curve. A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the original, and the instrument recalibrates that map through one to two full charge-discharge cycles. Run the pack down to the low-battery warning, charge fully, and repeat once — the percentage display stabilises after that.
The BW Icon+ won't take a charge after being left in storage for several months — the dock shows no charging activity at all.
When a Li-Polymer pack self-discharges below roughly 2.5V per cell during long storage, the BMS shuts down the charge path entirely to prevent cell damage. The dock sees this as an absent or faulted pack and does not initiate a cycle. Leave the instrument seated in the dock without interruption for 45–60 minutes — the dock's trickle stage will edge the cell voltage above the BMS recovery threshold, after which the amber charge indicator should activate and normal charging resumes.
