Fits Honeywell EDA40K mobile computer, replaces OEM part number BAT-EDA40K.
3.85V and 4000mAh capacity match the original cell; this wattage supports full-power barcode scan and wireless transmission without voltage sag.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab on the left side; orientation is keyed and cannot be reversed.
We bench tested the pack under rapid scan cycles with cradle charging — BMS accepted dock current without fault codes and held voltage steady above minimum threshold.
After install, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack — scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell approaches minimum and a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS shutdowns on first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Honeywell EDA40K — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BAT-EDA40K)

This is a 3.85V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Honeywell EDA40K mobile computer. The EDA40K is a rugged handheld terminal used in warehouse scanning, retail stock management, and field data collection. It replaces OEM part BAT-EDA40K directly.

  • EDA40K platform fit: The EDA40K runs a fixed 3.85V battery rail with a proprietary BMS handshake over the connector. This pack matches that voltage rail and communicates correctly with the device firmware — the battery status indicator reads accurately from the first boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on an EDA40K unit. The BMS reported state-of-charge correctly at each threshold, and the scan trigger inrush current at low cell voltage did not trip a false protection cutoff.
  • First-shift preparation: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a complete charge cycle before deploying it. The scan trigger draws the highest inrush current when the cell is near minimum — starting the first shift on a full charge prevents the BMS from tripping on that spike mid-operation.

Why the EDA40K drops wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The EDA40K fires both the imager and the Wi-Fi radio simultaneously during active scanning. Each scan burst plus the wireless polling cycle creates a combined inrush that briefly drags cell voltage. If the pack has degraded or is below 30% charge, the voltage sag crosses the BMS low-voltage threshold for long enough to force a radio reset. The result is a dropped Wi-Fi session that looks like a network fault but is a power delivery issue. Keeping the cell above 3.5V under load prevents this from occurring.

Cradle showing a charging error after fitting a new pack

A charging error on the dock immediately after fitting a new pack is almost always contact resistance between the battery terminals and the cradle's charging pins — not a fault with the pack itself. Dust, warehouse residue, or a slight misalignment at insertion can break the circuit the dock uses to confirm a valid battery. Remove the scanner, wipe both the pack contacts and the cradle pins with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks. If the error clears within 10 seconds of reseating, contact contamination was the cause.

Frequently Asked Questions

The EDA40K scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — is the imager dead?

The imager is almost certainly fine. The EDA40K's scan engine requires stable voltage to fire the illumination array, and a freshly installed pack that hasn't been charged will sit near minimum cell voltage. At that level, the inrush current from the imager can cause a momentary undervoltage that kills the scan attempt before a beam is projected. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge the new pack fully — the imager should read normally once cell voltage is above 3.7V under load.

My EDA40K feels noticeably warm after a full warehouse shift — is something wrong with the battery?

Warmth after an extended shift is expected on the EDA40K because the scanner, wireless radio, and imager all run inside a compact sealed housing with limited airflow. Sustained scan activity combined with continuous Wi-Fi polling generates steady heat in the cell and the surrounding chassis. The pack is operating normally if the device is warm but not hot to the touch and powers off cleanly at end of shift. If the housing becomes uncomfortable to hold or the device shuts down with charge remaining, the cell may be under excessive load — check that no background apps are polling the radio unnecessarily.

This new battery doesn't seem to last as long as my original did when it was new — what affects shift endurance on the EDA40K?

Shift endurance on the EDA40K drops when scan burst frequency and wireless polling intervals are both high — each scan trigger plus each radio beacon draws current simultaneously. A new pack at 4000mAh will outperform a degraded original, but if scan volume has increased or the device is now connected to a busier network access point, the draw is higher than your baseline. Check the device's battery usage screen to confirm no rogue app is keeping the radio active between scans. If capacity still seems short after a full first charge cycle, log the device off the network and run a scan-only session to isolate whether the radio is the drain.
