Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Honeywell ScanPal EDA70 / EDA71 — 3.78V Li-ion Replacement Battery (50141821-001)
This 3.78V Li-ion battery carries OEM part number 50141821-001 and fits the Honeywell ScanPal EDA70 and EDA71 rugged mobile computers. It runs at 8850mAh (33.45Wh) and slots into the same bay as the original pack. Both scanner models share the same battery connector, voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol.
- EDA70 and EDA71 compatibility: Honeywell built the EDA70 and EDA71 on the same hardware platform — identical battery bay geometry, the same 3.78V nominal rail, and a shared BMS communication line. One pack covers both units without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger bursts and active Wi-Fi polling sessions. The BMS held voltage within spec across burst draws and did not trigger a false low-battery cutoff during back-to-back scan cycles.
- Cradle charge before first shift: After installing this pack, seat the EDA70 or EDA71 in its charging cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle before use. The scan trigger inrush current peaks highest when the cell sits near minimum — a fully charged cell prevents the BMS from tripping on the first pick-and-pack run of the shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new 50141821-001 pack
The EDA70 charging cradle communicates with the pack over a data contact separate from the power pins. If that contact is dirty or the pack is not fully seated, the cradle throws a charging fault even though nothing is actually wrong with the battery. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strips on both the pack and the cradle bay with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the pack with firm downward pressure until the latch clicks. The fault clears once contact resistance drops below the cradle's detection threshold.
Scanner losing Wi-Fi mid-session during rapid scan bursts
The EDA70 runs its 802.11 radio and the scan imager simultaneously during active picking. Each scan trigger pulls a short inrush current on top of the sustained radio draw — if the cell voltage sags under the combined load, the radio subsystem drops its association before the BMS trips the full device. This shows up as a Wi-Fi disconnect during fast scan runs rather than a full shutdown. A cell that has aged or discharged below 3.5V sags further under dual load. Charge the pack to at least 3.8V before the shift and the voltage headroom keeps both subsystems stable through burst scanning.

Frequently Asked Questions
My EDA70 won't read barcodes right after I swapped the battery — is the scanner broken?
The imager and laser module need a stable voltage above a minimum threshold to fire correctly. If the replacement pack shipped partially discharged, the cell voltage may be too low to power the scan engine reliably even though the screen turns on. Seat the scanner in its cradle, charge it fully, then test the scan trigger — the read failures stop once the cell clears 3.78V under load.
The EDA70 gets noticeably warm after a few hours of continuous scanning — is that normal with this pack?
Sustained scan-trigger draws combined with constant Wi-Fi polling generate heat inside the EDA70's enclosed housing, and the battery itself warms as it supplies that load. Some warmth is normal; if the housing feels hot to the touch and scan speed slows, the device's thermal throttle is engaging. Check that the scanner isn't enclosed in a holster or bin during heavy use — open airflow around the housing is enough to keep operating temps within range.
This battery seems to run out faster than our original packs did — what's causing that?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both draw from the same cell, and warehouse environments with dense Wi-Fi traffic or long roaming distances push the radio to transmit at higher power. A new cell at 8850mAh should outlast a degraded original, so first verify the pack reached a full charge before the shift — a partial charge before the first cycle artificially cuts apparent capacity. Check the device's battery status screen; if it reads below 100% at shift start, run one full charge cycle in the cradle before drawing conclusions.
