Fits Point Mobile PM45 barcode scanner; replaces OEM part 45-BTSC.
3.85V, 3000mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full scan and wireless radio draw across warehouse shifts.
Connector slides into the PM45 battery slot with a single retention tab; no alignment pins.
We charged the 45-BTSC on a Point Mobile cradle dock and confirmed BMS handshake completed within 90 seconds.
After installing this pack, place the scanner in its cradle for one full charge cycle before shift use — the scan trigger pulls peak inrush current when cells sit near minimum, and a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS cutoffs during rapid barcode bursts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Point Mobile PM45 — 3.85V Li-ion Replacement Battery (45-BTSC)

This is a 3.85V, 3000mAh Li-ion battery for the Point Mobile PM45 rugged handheld barcode scanner. It replaces OEM part 45-BTSC and fits the PM45 directly — same connector, same BMS handshake. Capacity is 3000mAh (11.55Wh), matching the original specification.

  • PM45 platform fit: The PM45 runs a single-cell 3.85V architecture with a BMS that validates pack identity on boot. This replacement carries the correct voltage rail and protection circuit the device expects — no boot rejection, no pairing prompt.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through scan-burst and wireless polling loads simultaneously. The BMS held voltage above the device's minimum threshold throughout and did not trigger an early cutoff under combined inrush.
  • First-shift preparation on the PM45: After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before use. Scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum charge — a fully pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips on the first pick-and-pack shift.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new PM45 pack

A charging error on the PM45 cradle with a new pack is almost always a contact resistance issue, not a fault with the cell itself. Warehouse environments leave dust and handling oils on the gold contacts at the base of the battery. The cradle reads high resistance across the contacts and interprets it as a damaged or incompatible pack. Wipe the battery contacts and the cradle pogo pins with a dry cloth, reseat the pack firmly, and the error clears in most cases.

PM45 losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

During a fast scan burst, the PM45 draws simultaneously from the imager, the wireless radio, and the processor — combined inrush that can cause a momentary voltage sag on a partially depleted cell. When voltage dips below the BMS floor, the radio stack drops its connection before the imager does. This appears as a wireless dropout mid-shift rather than a full shutdown. Starting each shift with a fully charged pack keeps the cell voltage above the sag threshold during peak combined draw.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PM45 stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — the trigger clicks but nothing scans. What's wrong?

The imager on the PM45 needs a minimum voltage to fire reliably, and a new pack shipped in storage state may not have enough charge to meet that threshold on first use. The scanner powers on because the processor draws less than the imager, so the device looks functional while the scan engine fails silently. Place the unit in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before attempting to scan. After a full charge, the imager should fire consistently on trigger press.

The PM45 cradle is flashing a charging error on this new battery — it charged my old one fine. What do I check first?

Cradle charging errors on new packs are almost always caused by contact resistance, not a cell fault. Handling and packaging leave residue on the battery's gold contacts, and the cradle's charge controller reads that as an abnormal pack. Wipe the contacts on both the battery and the cradle pogo pins with a clean dry cloth, then reseat the pack with firm downward pressure. If the error clears within 30 seconds of reseating, contact resistance was the cause.

The PM45 feels noticeably warm after a full warehouse shift — is that a problem with the battery?

Sustained combined draw from the wireless radio, imager, and processor in the PM45's enclosed housing generates heat that concentrates around the battery compartment. At the end of a long pick-and-pack shift this is normal — the cell and BMS are both operating within spec under continuous load. If the housing feels hot to the touch rather than warm, or if the device shuts down before the battery indicator reaches low, check that the cradle contacts are clean so the pack is reaching a full charge before each shift. A cell that starts a shift undercharged runs hotter under load because it operates closer to its voltage floor.
