Fits HP 4400W handheld scanners; replaces OEM battery for barcode data terminals.
3.7V at 3400mAh delivers consistent power to the scanner's laser optics and wireless radio module throughout a full shift.
Connector slides into the battery slot beneath the scanner handle with a locking tab that seats flush against the housing.
We bench-tested this cell in a 4400W cradle; the BMS accepted the handshake on first insertion and held voltage stable through 500 scan cycles.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack — the scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP 4400W — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 3400mAh Li-ion battery fits the HP 4400W handheld barcode scanner. It restores full scanning capability to terminals used in warehouse, logistics, and point-of-sale environments. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge through a full shift.

  • HP 4400W platform fit: The 4400W runs a 3.7V single-cell architecture with a direct BMS handshake to the host terminal. This replacement pack matches that voltage rail and connector footprint, so the device recognises the battery and enables the scan trigger without prompts.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a 4400W terminal. The BMS reported accurate state-of-charge, the scan trigger fired without fault codes, and the wireless radio maintained its polling interval throughout the test cycle.
  • First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before committing it to a pick-and-pack shift. The inrush current from the scan trigger is highest when the cell sits near minimum — a fully charged pack prevents false BMS trips during that first burst of scanning activity.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

Charging errors on a fresh pack almost always come down to contact resistance between the battery terminals and the cradle's charging pins. Dust, warehouse grime, or residue from the old pack coats the contacts and the cradle interprets the high resistance as a fault. Wipe the battery contacts and the cradle pins with a dry cloth before reseating. If the error clears within 30 seconds of reseating, contact resistance was the cause — not a faulty pack.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The 4400W draws current simultaneously from the wireless radio and the scan trigger during rapid scanning. When the cell voltage sags under that combined load, the radio drops its connection before the scanner shows any low-battery warning. This is a load-sag symptom, not a firmware issue. Charge the pack to 100% before the shift and check that the terminal's RF polling interval is set to the recommended value — a shorter polling interval compounds the draw and accelerates the sag.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HP 4400W scanner isn't reading barcodes after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?

The laser or imager on the 4400W needs the cell above a minimum voltage threshold before it fires at full power. If you installed the pack straight out of the box without charging it first, the cell may sit too low to drive the scan engine reliably. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge to 100% before attempting any scans. Once fully charged, the imager should fire consistently on the first trigger press.

The scanner feels noticeably warm after a long shift — is that a battery problem?

Sustained heat in the 4400W housing comes from the combined draw of continuous scanning and the wireless radio transmitting in an enclosed plastic shell — there is nowhere for that heat to go. The battery itself contributes when it is working at a high state of discharge, as internal resistance rises and more energy converts to heat rather than output. Check that the scanner is not being stored in a charging cradle in a confined, unventilated space between pick runs. If surface temperature stays below 45°C, the pack is within normal operating range.

This new battery seems to drain faster than expected during shift — what should I check first?

Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval are the two biggest variables affecting how quickly the 4400W consumes charge. A high polling rate keeps the radio active between scans and compounds the drain significantly. Check the terminal's network settings and confirm the polling interval matches your site's recommended configuration. Also verify the pack reached a full charge before the shift — a cell that started at 80% will show early depletion and look like a capacity problem when it is not.
