Fits Datalogic GM4100, GM4130, GM4400, and GM4430 scanners; replaces OEM RBP-4000 and BT-8 battery packs.
3.7V, 3400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 12.58Wh to sustain barcode scanning and wireless transmission through a full warehouse shift.
Connector seats vertically into the scanner battery slot with a single-point locking tab; contact surfaces require a light wipe before first install.
We ran five full discharge cycles on the GM4100 dock; BMS accepted the pack without fault lights and maintained stable voltage under mixed scan-and-idle load.
After installing this cell, place the scanner in its cradle for one complete charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack — the scan trigger draws peak inrush current when the cell is near minimum and a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS shutdowns on first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datalogic GM4100 / GM4130 / GM4400 / GM4430 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RBP-4000 / BT-8)

This is a 3.7V, 3400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Datalogic GM4100 series handheld barcode scanners. It fits the GM4100, GM4130, GM4400, and GM4430 models used in retail, warehousing, and logistics operations. The cell matches the original pack's voltage rail and connector spec to keep your scanner running through full shifts.

  • GM4100 / GM4400 series compatibility: These four models share the same battery bay geometry, 3.7V nominal rail, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits all — no adapter or firmware change required.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through simulated scan-burst loads on the GM4100 platform. The BMS held stable through rapid trigger inrush events and maintained correct charge termination in both cradle and USB charge modes.
  • First-shift prep on pick-and-pack lines: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before pulling it for use. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum — a full charge before the first shift prevents false BMS trips at the start of a run.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

Dock contact resistance is the most common cause of charging errors when fitting a new battery in the GM4100 series cradle. Oxidation or debris on the gold contacts breaks the low-voltage handshake the dock uses to start a charge cycle. Wipe the pack's contact pads and the cradle contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. If the error clears, the pack was good — the dock contacts were the problem.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The GM4100 draws simultaneously from the wireless radio and the scan trigger during fast barcode reads — both loads hit the cell at the same time. If the pack's state of charge is low, this combined inrush causes a momentary voltage sag that the BMS reads as an under-voltage fault, dropping the wireless link. Recharge the pack before using the scanner in high-frequency scan environments. If the drop-outs continue with a fully charged pack, check that the battery contacts are seated flush — a loose fit adds contact resistance and worsens sag.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GM4100 scanner stops reading barcodes right after I install the new battery — is something wrong with the pack?

Nothing is wrong with the pack. The imager and laser draw a surge of current on the first trigger pull, and if the cell shipped at a low state of charge, the BMS trips briefly to protect the cell. Seat the scanner in the cradle and charge fully before pulling it for use. Once the cell is above 4.1V, trigger inrush stays well within BMS limits and the imager fires normally.

The cradle is flashing a charge error light on the new battery but charged my old pack fine — what's causing that?

The GM4100 cradle uses a low-current contact handshake to verify the pack before starting a charge cycle. Dirty or oxidised contact pads break that handshake and trigger the fault light even though the pack itself is fine. Wipe the battery's gold contact pads and the cradle's charge pins with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner with firm downward pressure. The charge indicator should switch to a steady charge light within a few seconds.

The scanner runs warm after a long shift — is that normal with this battery?

Sustained warmth during an extended shift is expected in the GM4100 housing. The combined draw from the wireless radio polling and repeated scan trigger events generates heat in an enclosed plastic body with no active cooling. The pack's BMS monitors cell temperature and will throttle charge or cut output if the cell exceeds safe limits. If the housing becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, reduce scan burst frequency and check that the battery contacts are fully seated — a poorly seated pack increases resistance and heat at the contact point.
