Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Elite x2 1011 G1 — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (OL02XL)
This is a 7.4V, 4450mAh Li-Polymer cell that replaces the OL02XL battery in the HP Elite x2 G1 and Elite x2 1011 G1 2-in-1 tablet-laptop. It fits the detachable tablet section of the hybrid, restoring unplugged operation when the original cell has degraded. Confirmed fitment includes L8L94PA, L4H91AW, and units carrying OEM part numbers HSTNN-DB5Z, 750549-001, 750549-005, and 750549-006.
- Elite x2 G1 tablet unit compatibility: These models share the same 7.4V power rail, flat Li-Polymer form factor, and BMS handshake protocol. The connector pinout and cell dimensions (266.90 × 79.25 × 4.20mm) are identical across the Elite x2 G1 family, so the same cell fits all listed variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on an Elite x2 1011 G1 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, charge current ramped normally through CC/CV stages, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- BIOS learn cycle after install: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor after swapping the OL02XL cell
The Elite x2 G1 BIOS reads health data stored in the old cell's EEPROM. When a new cell is installed, the EEPROM contains no charge history, so the BIOS flags it as unknown or degraded. This is a calibration gap, not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full discharge cycle to hibernate-cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%, and the BIOS battery learn routine will write fresh baseline data to the cell's EEPROM, clearing the warning.
Elite x2 G1 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve. Under combined CPU and display load, the new cell hits a voltage cliff that the uncalibrated gauge misreads as 20–30% remaining. The system interprets the sudden voltage drop as a critical low and triggers an immediate shutdown. Complete two to three full discharge-to-hibernate then full-charge cycles — by the third cycle the fuel gauge IC recalibrates to the new cell and the shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
HP Support Assistant says my new battery is 0% health and shows the wrong Wh rating — is the cell dead?
No — the Wh rating shown in system info comes from EEPROM data on the old cell's profile, not a live measurement of the new cell. HP Support Assistant and BIOS both read that stored value until the battery learn cycle overwrites it. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle completes, the displayed Wh rating and health status will update to reflect the actual cell.
The Elite x2 G1 fuel gauge reads a different percentage every time I look at it for the first few days after fitting the new battery — what's wrong?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC on the Elite x2 G1 mainboard builds its voltage-to-capacity map from charge history. With a new cell installed, it has no history to reference, so it interpolates erratically. Run two to three complete discharge-to-hibernate then full-charge cycles without interruption. By the third cycle the IC has enough data points to track the new cell accurately and the readings stabilise.
My replacement OL02XL cell stopped charging at 80% and won't go higher — is the BIOS charge limit active?
Yes — the Elite x2 G1 BIOS includes a Battery Care Mode that caps charge at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. It is off by default but can be toggled on silently by a firmware update or a previous user's settings. Open HP BIOS Setup (F10 at boot), navigate to Power > Battery Care Mode, and set it to Disabled. Charge will then proceed to 100%.
