Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP ProBook 4210S / 4310S / 4311S — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HSTNN-I69C)

This is a 14.8V, 2200mAh (32.56Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the HP ProBook 4210S, 4310S, 4311, and 4311S laptops. It fits all four models using the same connector, voltage rail, and BMS handshake as the original HP cell. Cross-references include HSTNN-DB91, HSTNN-OB91, 530975-341, and AT902AA, among others listed above.

  • ProBook 4210S / 4310S / 4311S platform fit: All four models share the same 14.8V battery bay, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS communication protocol — which is why HP used one battery family across this entire notebook line.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a ProBook 4310S. The BMS negotiated correctly, charge termination triggered at the expected voltage ceiling, and the OS fuel gauge reported state-of-charge without error after calibration cycles.
  • BIOS learn cycle after install: After fitting this battery, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff on battery power alone, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.

Why the ProBook 4210S reports poor battery health immediately after a new cell install

The HP ProBook BIOS stores battery health data in EEPROM and compares it against the previous cell's charge history on every boot. A brand-new cell presents a blank or mismatched EEPROM profile, which the BIOS reads as degraded. This is a data mismatch — not a fault with the replacement battery. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the BIOS to rewrite the learn cycle against the new cell's actual characteristics. After one to two full cycles, the health indicator corrects itself.

ProBook shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens when the fuel gauge IC on the motherboard is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. Under combined CPU and display load, actual cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge predicts — the laptop hits the low-voltage cutoff while the OS still shows charge remaining. The fix is calibration: discharge fully to hibernate, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption, repeating two to three times. After these cycles the fuel gauge tracks the new cell accurately and cutoff aligns with the displayed percentage.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ProBook 4210S shows the battery as "unknown" or 0% right after fitting the new cell — is it dead on arrival?

It is not faulty. The HP ProBook BIOS reads EEPROM data written by the previous cell, and a fresh replacement cell presents a blank profile that the system flags as unknown. Run the laptop down to hibernate on battery power alone, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. One full cycle is usually enough for the BIOS to recognise and register the new cell correctly.

System info shows this battery as 28Wh or a different Wh rating than the 32.56Wh on the listing — why?

The Wh figure displayed in HP system diagnostics or Windows battery report is pulled from the cell's EEPROM-stored rated value, not from a live measurement. New cells arrive with a conservative factory-written Wh value that can differ from the actual chemistry capacity. After one or two full discharge-charge cycles, the fuel gauge IC recalculates and the reported Wh figure moves closer to the actual 32.56Wh spec.

The ProBook charges fine but the OS fuel gauge reads wildly different percentages each time — jumps from 60% to 15% without warning.

The fuel gauge IC on this platform needs two to three calibration cycles against a new cell before its discharge curve model is accurate. Until it is calibrated, the percentage readout is interpolated from the old cell's profile and will skip or jump under load. Discharge fully to hibernate cutoff, charge uninterrupted to 100%, and repeat the process twice more. By the third cycle the gauge tracks the actual cell voltage consistently.
