Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP ProBook 430 Series — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (707618-121)
This is a 14.8V, 2200mAh (32.56Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the HP ProBook 430, ProBook 430 G1, and ProBook 430 G2. It fits the standard battery bay and connects via the original multi-pin connector. Cross-reference part numbers include 768549-001, H6L28AA, HSTNN-IB4L, HSTNN-W01C, and RA04.
- ProBook 430 G1 and G2 compatibility: Both generations use the same 14.8V four-cell architecture, identical bay dimensions, and the same BMS handshake protocol — so one cell works across both revisions without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a ProBook 430 G2. The BMS communicated correctly with the EC, charge acceptance reached full capacity, and no fault codes were logged during the test sequence.
- Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this cell, run the laptop down to hibernate-cutoff under normal use, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor after fitting a new cell
The ProBook BIOS reads health data from the battery's EEPROM — not from live cell voltage. When you swap the physical cell, the EEPROM on the new pack carries default factory values that the BIOS hasn't yet learned. This mismatch triggers a "Battery Health is Poor" or "Replace Battery" warning even though the cell is new. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% gives the BIOS enough cycle data to update its health estimate correctly.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% remaining shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge was mapped to the old, degraded cell and misjudges the remaining charge window. Under full CPU and display load, the real cell voltage hits cutoff while the OS still shows 20–30% remaining. Complete two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles to recalibrate the gauge — after that, the reported percentage should track actual voltage within a few percent.

Frequently Asked Questions
The ProBook 430 keeps cutting out under load even though the battery shows 25% — is the new cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old degraded cell's voltage curve, so it misreads the new cell's charge window under CPU and display load. When real voltage hits cutoff, the system shuts down even though the gauge hasn't caught up. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by uninterrupted charges to 100% — the gauge recalibrates against the new cell and the early cutoff stops.
Windows shows the new battery Wh rating as different from the original — is that a data error?
The Wh figure Windows reports is pulled from the battery EEPROM's rated design capacity, not measured from the live cell. A replacement pack carries its own EEPROM data, which may differ slightly from the original OEM value even if the physical chemistry is identical. This is a data mismatch between EEPROM fields, not a sign of a fault or reduced output. The accurate spec for this cell is 32.56Wh — if Windows shows something close to that after a full calibration cycle, the EEPROM has settled correctly.
Charge stops at 80% and won't go higher — is the BIOS blocking it?
Yes, on many ProBook units the BIOS includes a Battery Care Mode or a charge threshold setting that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress. Check BIOS Setup (F10 at boot) under the Power or Battery menu and confirm the charge limit is set to 100%. If the option isn't there, check HP Support Assistant — some units push the threshold via software rather than firmware. Set the limit to 100%, unplug and replug the adapter, and the charge should continue past 80%.
