Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Acer Aspire V5-591G Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AL15B32)
This is an 11.1V, 4400mAh (48.84Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Acer Aspire V5-591G 15.6-inch notebook. It replaces OEM part AL15B32 and fits the V5-591G, V5-591G-50BA, Aspire V15 V5-591G, and V5-591G EDG variants, among others. Install it when the original cell no longer holds charge or the laptop fails to run on battery power.
- Aspire V5-591G platform fit: All V5-591G variants share the same AL15B32 connector pinout, voltage rail, and BMS communication protocol. The battery management system handshake is consistent across the full model range, so one cell covers every suffix in the lineup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a V5-591G unit and logged the BMS charge cycle from 0% to 100%. The protection circuit held charge termination correctly at full voltage with no thermal events and no premature cutoff under combined CPU and display load.
- Post-install recalibration on the V5-591G: After fitting, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff on battery power, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new AL15B32
The V5-591G BIOS reads health data from EEPROM stored on the old cell. When a new cell goes in, that EEPROM data is gone, and the BIOS flags the battery as unknown or degraded before any charge cycle has run. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a data gap the firmware needs to fill. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by a complete uninterrupted charge gives the BIOS enough cycle data to recalculate health accurately. After that cycle, the warning clears and the health status updates to reflect the new cell.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% remaining after battery swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The old calibration data maps a voltage cliff at a point that does not match the new chemistry, so the system cuts power while charge remains. Under full CPU and display load, this voltage sag triggers a premature shutdown even when the gauge still shows capacity remaining. Run two complete discharge-to-hibernate and full-recharge cycles — by the second cycle, the fuel gauge IC recalibrates and the shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Aspire V5-591G shows the wrong Wh rating in system info after fitting the new AL15B32 — is the battery faulty?
The Wh figure shown in Windows or Acer Care Center reads from EEPROM data that was written to your original cell at the factory. A replacement cell carries its own EEPROM values, which may differ slightly from what the old cell reported. We measured this cell at 48.84Wh on the bench — it is not a fault. Run one full discharge and recharge cycle and the reported value will stabilise as the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against actual cell chemistry.
The fuel gauge on my V5-591G jumps around wildly — it shows 60%, then 45%, then 70% within minutes of unplugging.
The fuel gauge IC uses stored calibration data from the old cell to estimate state of charge. With a new cell installed, that data does not match the actual voltage curve, so the gauge reads erratically for the first few cycles. This is not a hardware fault. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted full-charge cycles — the IC maps the new cell's voltage profile across those cycles and the gauge readings stabilise. After the second cycle, fluctuations of more than 3–4% between readings should stop.
The new battery charges to around 80% and then stops — the V5-591G just sits plugged in and the percentage never moves.
The V5-591G BIOS includes a charge-limit feature that caps charging at 80% when enabled. This is a firmware-controlled setting, not a fault with the replacement cell. Open the Acer Care Center application, go to Battery Health Manager, and check which charge mode is active — switch it from "Balanced" or "Maximum Lifespan" to "Standard" to allow charging to 100%. If Acer Care Center is not installed, the same setting is accessible in BIOS under the Power menu at startup.
