Fits HTC Wizard smartphones; replaces OEM part number WIZA16.
3.7V 3.7V 2350mAh lithium-ion cell powers the processor, display, and cellular radio without modification.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab on the left edge.
We charged this cell in an HTC Wizard cradle and confirmed the BMS accepted the full 2350mAh capacity within the first two cycles.
After installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle with the phone's fuel gauge IC enabled before relying on percentage readings — the IC recalibrates against this cell's discharge curve during that first full cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HTC Wizard — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (WIZA16)

This is a 3.7V 2350mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the HTC Wizard Windows Mobile smartphone. It slots into the original battery bay and powers the device's cellular radio, processor, and display. Capacity listed is from product data — 8.7Wh.

  • HTC Wizard platform fit: The Wizard uses a single-cell Li-ion pack at 3.7V nominal with a fixed connector pinout. The WIZA16 part number maps directly to this platform — voltage rail and BMS handshake match the device's charge controller without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Wizard platform. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake cleanly, balanced correctly at top-of-charge, and held the cutoff at the expected low-voltage threshold without tripping early.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The Wizard's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve — one complete cycle resets that reference against the new cell.

Why the Wizard shuts down suddenly at 20–30% battery remaining

The HTC Wizard's charge controller reads voltage to estimate remaining capacity. An aged original cell develops high internal impedance, so under load from the GSM radio or backlight, terminal voltage drops sharply below the shutdown threshold — even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. A new cell with lower impedance sustains voltage under the same load. After one full calibration cycle, the fuel gauge IC updates its reference and percentage readings stabilise against the new cell's actual discharge curve.

Battery percentage jumping erratically after fitting the replacement

This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating. The Wizard stores a discharge model tied to the old cell's coulomb count and voltage slope — the new cell's characteristics don't match that stored model yet. Percentage can jump 10–15 points in either direction during the first one or two cycles. Run the device down to auto-shutdown and charge fully without interruption. By the second full cycle, the IC has enough data to track the new cell accurately and readings settle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HTC Wizard won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is it dead?

The BMS locks out below approximately 2.5V per cell to prevent damage from deep discharge. A cell that's been in storage can drop below that threshold, and the Wizard won't power on until the BMS is recovered. Connect the device to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — most charge ICs trickle current into a deeply discharged cell to bring it above the BMS re-enable threshold before normal charging begins. If the charging indicator appears after that window, the cell is recovering normally.

The Wizard feels warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — is that a fault?

Not a fault. A new cell starts with higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. The charge IC pushes current into that higher impedance during early cycles, and some of that energy converts to heat. Surface warmth during charging on the first two or three cycles is expected. If the device becomes hot to the touch or charging stops and restarts repeatedly, that points to a charge IC issue on the board itself — check that the battery contacts are clean and seated flat.

Why does my Wizard show 100% charge but drop to low battery within a short time of unplugging?

This is a voltage cliff caused by the fuel gauge IC still running the old cell's discharge model against the new cell. The new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve doesn't match the stored reference, so the gauge reads high until load pulls voltage down to a point the old model recognises. One full uninterrupted discharge to auto-shutdown followed by a complete charge resets the coulomb counter reference. After that cycle, the percentage reported at unplug will track actual remaining capacity accurately.
