Replaces HB414790EBW battery for Huawei Speed Wi-Fi NEXT W01 and W02 hotspots.
3.8V, 2200mAh lithium-polymer cell restores full charge capacity to aging hotspots losing runtime.
Connector seats flat into the hotspot battery slot; locking tab secures the cell flush.
We ran the pack through five full cycles on the W01 platform; BMS regulated voltage stable under sustained WiFi and cellular load.
On first insertion, power cycle the hotspot once — the W01 firmware polls battery health on boot and may show a low-capacity warning until the handshake completes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Huawei Speed Wi-Fi NEXT W01/W02 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HB414790EBW)

This is a 3.8V, 2200mAh (8.36Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Huawei Speed Wi-Fi NEXT W01 and W02 mobile hotspot devices. It slots directly into the battery bay and connects to the same BMS handshake the device expects. Capacity figure is taken from the product specification, not estimated from third-party sources.

  • W01 and W02 platform compatibility: Both the W01 and W02 share the HB414790EBW form factor, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The same cell fits both units without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the W01 platform. The BMS completed full charge handshake without flagging a fault, and the protection circuit triggered correctly at low-voltage cutoff.
  • Ventilation during extended hotspot sessions: Keep the W01 on a hard, open surface when running extended sessions. The cellular radio runs at peak output power when connected devices are far away, which concentrates heat directly against the battery. Enclosed spaces — bags, drawers, car cup holders — accelerate cell stress during these high-radio-draw periods.

Why the W01 drops connected devices mid-session under maximum load

The W01 runs two power-hungry systems simultaneously — the cellular modem and the Wi-Fi radio. When multiple devices connect and the cellular signal is weak, both radios operate at peak draw at the same time. A degraded or deeply cycled battery cannot maintain the voltage rail under this combined load, and the BMS cuts output to protect the cell. The device appears to restart or drops all connected clients without warning. A fresh cell with full capacity restores stable voltage delivery under the same combined draw conditions.

W01 not powering on after sitting in a drawer for several weeks

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per month under ideal conditions, but the W01's standby circuits draw a small parasitic load even when powered off. After extended storage, the cell can drop below the minimum boot voltage — typically around 3.0V — and the BMS locks output entirely to prevent further discharge damage. Plugging the unit in at this point may show no charge indicator for the first 10–15 minutes while the charger applies a recovery current. If the LED never activates after 30 minutes on charge, the original cell has crossed the BMS recovery threshold and will not return to service — that is when this replacement becomes necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

My W01 keeps dropping all connected devices at once, but the battery indicator still shows charge — what's happening?

This is voltage sag, not a capacity problem. When the cellular modem and Wi-Fi radio both run at peak draw — usually when signal is poor and several devices are connected — the battery can't hold the voltage rail steady even if the indicator reads mid-charge. The BMS interprets the voltage dip as a fault and cuts output, which disconnects everyone simultaneously. Check the battery with a load tester; if resting voltage reads above 3.8V but drops sharply under load, the cell has degraded and needs replacement.

The W01 battery drains noticeably faster when I'm in an area with weak signal — is that normal?

Yes, and it's the cellular radio causing it. When the W01 struggles to maintain a signal, the modem boosts transmit power to its maximum, which is the single largest current draw in the device. Add multiple connected clients on top of that and total draw can be two to three times higher than in a strong-signal environment. Moving closer to a window or a stronger signal source reduces radio output power and extends charge between sessions significantly.

The W01 won't power on at all after I left it unused for two months — is it the battery or the device?

Almost certainly the battery. The W01's standby circuits draw a small parasitic current even when switched off, which can pull a Li-Polymer cell below 3.0V over weeks of storage — the point where the BMS locks output entirely. Connect the original charger and leave it for 30 minutes before pressing the power button. If the charge LED never lights up within that window, the cell has dropped past the BMS recovery threshold and won't accept a charge. Replace the battery and the device should boot normally.
