Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Novatel Wireless MiFi 7730L — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (40123117)
This 3.8V 4400mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces part number 40123117 in the Novatel Wireless MiFi 7730L and Jetpack MiFi 7730L mobile hotspot. It fits the Verizon-branded Jetpack 4G LTE variants of this device. Capacity is 4400mAh (16.72Wh) — matching the original specification.
- MiFi 7730L platform fit: The Jetpack MiFi 7730L, Verizon MiFi 7730L, and Jetpack 4G LTE variants all share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one cell covers the entire model family.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and draw sessions on a MiFi 7730L with eight simultaneous connected clients. The BMS held voltage without false low-battery interrupts and passed the handshake to the device's power management IC on first boot.
- Cellular signal and heat management: When the MiFi 7730L operates in a low-signal area, the LTE modem ramps to maximum transmit power. Position the hotspot near a window or elevated surface — sustained maximum radio output at close range to a warm surface traps heat directly against the battery cell.
Why the MiFi 7730L drops connected devices mid-session
The 7730L runs two power-hungry systems simultaneously — a 4G LTE modem and a dual-band Wi-Fi radio. When all connection slots are active and the cellular signal is marginal, combined current draw can spike hard enough to sag the battery voltage below the BMS protection threshold. The BMS interprets this as a low-cell event and shuts the radio stack down to protect the cell. The fix is to reduce active connected devices when the signal indicator shows one or two bars, which cuts combined draw and keeps voltage above the BMS trip point.
Hotspot shows full charge but won't complete a boot cycle
This happens when a Li-Polymer cell has self-discharged during storage to below the minimum boot voltage — typically under 3.0V per cell. The device reads residual surface charge and displays a charge indicator, but the voltage collapses immediately under the startup load of the modem and processor. Connect the hotspot directly to a wall adapter (not a computer USB port, which current-limits at 500mA) and leave it for 45 minutes before attempting to power on. If the device still fails to boot, check that the wall adapter is delivering at least 5V 1A to the charging circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MiFi 7730L keeps kicking devices off the network every few minutes — is this a battery problem?
Yes, this is a known voltage-sag issue on the 7730L when the battery is degraded. The combined draw from the LTE modem and Wi-Fi radio under maximum connected clients pulls enough current to momentarily sag battery voltage below the BMS protection cutoff, causing the radio stack to restart. We reproduced this on the bench with eight active clients in a low-signal environment. Reduce connected devices to four or fewer, or replace the battery — a fresh cell at 4400mAh holds voltage through those draw spikes without tripping the BMS.
The battery drains much faster when I'm in a rural area or weak signal zone — why?
The 7730L's LTE modem scales transmit power based on signal strength. In poor coverage, the modem runs at full output continuously instead of stepping down — we measured noticeably higher current draw in a two-bar signal environment versus full bars at the same number of connected devices. There's no software fix for this; it's the modem doing its job. The practical solution is to position the hotspot near a window to improve signal reception, which lets the modem back off transmit power and reduces the load on the battery.
My MiFi 7730L sat unused for a few months and now won't turn on even after plugging it in — what's happening?
A Li-Polymer cell that self-discharges during storage can drop below 3.0V — low enough that the BMS blocks charging to protect the cell, and the device won't boot. Plug the hotspot into a wall adapter rated at 5V 1A or higher and leave it connected for at least 45 minutes before pressing the power button. A laptop USB port may not supply enough current to recover the cell. If the device powers on but immediately shuts down, the original battery has degraded past recovery and needs to be replaced with a fresh 40123117-compatible cell.
