Fits Humantechnik Sydney smartphone; replaces OEM battery CS-MY890SL.
3.7V, 900mAh cell restores full charge cycles on this candybar-form device.
Connector slides into original battery slot with flat-contact orientation; no locking tab.
Bench testing showed clean BMS handshake on first insertion; fuel gauge reported full capacity immediately.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Humantechnik Sydney — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion cell for the Humantechnik Sydney mobile phone. It replaces the original battery when the cell can no longer hold a usable charge. Dimensions are 53.00 x 34.00 x 4.80mm — confirm these against your existing cell before installing.

  • Humantechnik Sydney fit: The Sydney is a dedicated mobile phone with a fixed battery bay sized to this cell's footprint. The voltage rail and connector orientation match the original spec, so the charge IC communicates with the new cell without hardware modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS accepted full charge without tripping protection cutoff, and voltage held stable across the discharge curve with no anomalous mid-cycle drops.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, disable any fast-charge mode and run one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated reference.

Why the Sydney reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC on the Sydney stores a discharge curve profile calibrated to the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the IC still references that old curve, so the percentage shown on screen does not match the actual cell state of charge. This gap causes the phone to report 40% while the real cell voltage is already near 3.5V. One full discharge to auto-shutdown followed by a full uninterrupted charge resets the coulomb counter and re-anchors the gauge to the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet recalibrated and the cell hits a voltage cliff under screen or modem load. The Sydney's processor draws a current spike that pulls cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold — around 3.0V — even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. The phone cuts out to protect the cell. Run two full discharge-charge cycles without interruption, then check that shutdown no longer occurs until the gauge reads below 10%.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Humantechnik Sydney won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is the cell dead?

The BMS locks out the cell when voltage drops below approximately 2.5V during storage — this is a protection state, not permanent cell failure. Plug the phone into a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button; the charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold. Once voltage crosses roughly 3.0V the BMS unlocks and the phone will power on normally.

The Sydney feels warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges after I replaced the cell — is that normal?

A new high-impedance cell accepts charge less efficiently on the first few cycles, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat than it will once the cell conditions. Warmth during charging is expected in the first two to three cycles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or charging stops and restarts repeatedly, check that the charger output matches the rated input — use the original cable and adapter for the first cycle.

Fast charging stopped working after I swapped the battery — my charger used to top it up quickly but now it's slow every time.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC may not complete the handshake needed to step up to high-current charging because the fuel gauge has no reference curve yet for the new cell. Run one full slow charge — plugged into a standard 5V/1A USB source — until the phone shows 100%, then let it discharge fully before plugging back in. After that calibration cycle, reconnect your original fast charger and the IC should resume the high-current charge profile.
