Fits Palm Tungsten T5 PDA, replaces OEM battery IA1XA27F1.
3.7V Li-Polymer at 1350mAh delivers 5Wh to restore full runtime on aging units.
Connector slides into original battery slot with positive and negative terminals aligned vertically.
We cycled the BMS through five charge cycles; voltage regulation held steady at 4.2V peak.
Sync all data to your host computer before removing the old battery — the Tungsten T5 powers RAM through the main cell, and pulling it without sync erases open files and application state.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Palm Tungsten T5 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (IA1XA27F1)

This is a 3.7V, 1350mAh Li-Polymer battery for the Palm Tungsten T5 PDA. It replaces the original OEM cell (IA1XA27F1) in units where the factory battery no longer holds a usable charge. Fits the Tungsten T5 only — verify your model before ordering.

  • Tungsten T5 fitment: The T5 uses a slim Li-Polymer cell at a fixed 3.7V nominal rail with a specific connector and board footprint. This cell matches that footprint, voltage, and BMS handshake — the device charges and reports state-of-charge normally through the cradle or USB cable.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a T5 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity, and low-battery warnings appeared at the expected voltage threshold.
  • RAM data protection before swap: The Tungsten T5 stores open application state and unsaved data in SRAM powered directly by the main battery. Perform a full HotSync to your host computer before removing the old cell — any data not written to flash storage will be lost the moment battery power is cut.

Why the Tungsten T5 loses data after a battery swap

The T5 splits storage between flash memory and SRAM. Flash holds the OS and installed applications. SRAM holds active records, open databases, and application state — and it requires continuous battery power to retain that data. When the battery is removed, SRAM loses power instantly and that data is gone. A completed HotSync before the swap is the only way to protect it.

Tungsten T5 not booting after new battery installed

The T5 boot sequence requires a minimum voltage threshold before the processor will initialise. A new Li-Polymer cell shipped at storage charge — typically around 3.6V — can sit just below that threshold after transit. The device may show nothing on screen or get stuck on the Palm logo. Place it in the cradle or connect the USB charger and charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on — do not press the power button repeatedly during this window.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Tungsten T5 lost all my contacts and calendar entries after I swapped the battery — where did they go?

They were in SRAM, which needs live battery voltage to retain data. The moment the old cell was disconnected, that memory cleared. Data stored in flash — installed apps and the OS — survives the swap; RAM-resident records do not. Before any future battery change, run a full HotSync to your desktop so Palm Desktop holds a current backup.

The T5 powers on after the new battery but shuts off again within seconds — what's happening?

A cell arriving at storage voltage can trigger the low-battery protection cutoff the moment the device draws startup current. The BMS reads voltage drop under load and shuts the unit down before the boot completes. Connect the charger and leave it for 45 minutes before powering on — check that the charge LED on the cradle is active, confirming current is flowing into the new cell.

Wireless sync via Wi-Fi is dropping repeatedly since the battery replacement — is the battery faulty?

The T5's Wi-Fi radio draws a sharp current spike when transmitting, and at less than full charge the cell voltage sags enough for the radio to lose power momentarily. This looks like a connection drop but it's a voltage issue, not a faulty cell. Charge the battery to full — 4.2V at termination — before attempting a wireless sync, and check that your sync software isn't set to a short timeout.
