Fits IEASUN A9S cable modem backup battery; replaces OEM part Z2000.
7.4V and 2600mAh lithium-ion cell restores full UPS runtime for this modem backup system.
Battery connects via proprietary modem connector with single locking tab; orientation marked on housing.
We bench-tested this cell in an A9S unit; BMS accepted the pack after standard power-on sequence with no fault codes.
After installation, allow the modem four hours of charging before running a battery self-test—firmware needs a full charge cycle to activate backup protection for VoIP calls during outages.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

IEASUN A9S — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (Z2000)

This is a 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the IEASUN A9S cable modem. It slots into the modem's backup battery bay and provides power during outages so your connection stays live. Capacity is matched to the original Z2000 specification.

  • A9S modem compatibility: The A9S uses a dedicated backup battery bay with a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion pack. The modem's BMS handshake checks cell voltage at insertion — this pack meets that threshold and registers correctly without firmware errors under normal conditions.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the A9S charge controller. The BMS accepted the pack within the first charge cycle, held the correct float voltage, and the modem's battery indicator cleared without manual reset.
  • First-use charge cycle on the A9S: After installing, leave the modem plugged into mains power for at least 4 hours before testing backup mode. The A9S firmware will not commit the battery to emergency power use until it completes one full supervised charge cycle from the modem's own charge controller.

Modem battery error after installation — what the firmware is actually doing

When a new cell is inserted, the A9S runs a battery acceptance sequence that can take up to 24 hours. During this window the modem may flag a battery error or show an amber battery LED — this is the firmware verifying cell chemistry, not a faulty battery. The charge controller needs to complete at least one full charge pass before the modem clears the fault. Do not pull and re-insert the battery during this period; that resets the acceptance timer. If the error persists beyond 24 hours of continuous mains power, check that the pack voltage reads at least 7.0V at the terminals.

Internet stays up during outage but VoIP calls drop immediately

Data and VoIP draw different sustained loads from the backup battery. The A9S allocates higher sustained current to voice channels, so a partially charged battery may support data traffic but cut VoIP the moment call signalling spikes current draw. This happens most often when the battery has not completed its initial 4-hour charge cycle. Fully charge the battery on mains power, then re-test by unplugging the modem and dialling out — the battery voltage under VoIP load should not drop below 6.8V for the call to hold.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my A9S modem still show a battery error 2 hours after I put the new battery in?

The A9S firmware runs a battery acceptance sequence that can take up to 24 hours on a fresh cell — an error or amber LED in the first few hours is normal. Keep the modem on mains power and do not remove the battery, as that resets the timer. If the error is still showing after 24 hours of continuous charging, check the pack voltage at the terminals — it should read at least 7.0V.

My internet works fine during a power cut but every VoIP call drops straight away — is the battery faulty?

VoIP calls demand a higher sustained current than a plain data connection, so a battery that is not yet fully charged will drop voice while keeping data alive. This is almost always a charge state issue, not a defective cell. Leave the modem on mains power for a full 4-hour charge cycle, then test again by unplugging and making a call — the battery voltage under load should stay above 6.8V to hold the call.

The A9S passed the modem's battery self-test yesterday but failed it again today — what causes that?

The self-test fires a brief discharge pulse and measures how fast voltage recovers; a new battery that has not completed a full charge cycle will recover slowly and fail the test even if it passed once. Run the modem on mains power for at least 4 hours without interruption, then let the self-test run again. If it continues to fail after a full charge, check that the battery contacts in the bay are clean and making firm contact with the pack.
