Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ingenico RoadRunners Evolution 1D — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (B25000005)
This 3.7V, 2400mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original pack in the Ingenico RoadRunners Evolution 1D and BRR-L Evolution handheld barcode scanners. It fits the YYS1-1056730 and BRR-L platform variants that share the same form factor and connector. OEM part numbers B25000005 and BD1227 both cross to this replacement.
- RoadRunners Evolution platform fit: The 1D, BRR-L Evolution, and YYS1-1056730 variants all run the same 3.7V rail with an identical connector and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers the full group — no pinout differences between listed models.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through scan-burst sequences and wireless polling intervals on the bench. The BMS held steady through rapid trigger pulls and sustained no-load standby without dropping below the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- First-shift preparation: After installing the new pack, seat the scanner in its cradle for a complete charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge, and a partially charged cell can trip the BMS on the first burst — a full cradle charge prevents that.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
The RoadRunners Evolution cradle reads pack state through gold pogo contacts on the base of the scanner. Oxidation or residue on those contacts raises resistance enough for the dock to flag a fault before charging begins. This is not a cell defect — it is a contact issue between the dock and the pack. Wipe the contacts on both the scanner and the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat firmly, and the error clears in most cases.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during a rapid scan burst
The RoadRunners Evolution 1D draws simultaneously from its radio module and the scan trigger during a burst sequence. That combined inrush causes a brief voltage sag on a cell that is low or degraded. When the sag crosses the BMS cutoff threshold, the radio drops first — the wireless stack loses power before the display goes dark. If reconnection happens automatically after a pause, the cell voltage is marginal. Charge to full and if the drop recurs on a charged pack, the cell capacity has faded and replacement is the correct fix.

Frequently Asked Questions
The scanner reads fine for the first few scans after a battery swap, then the laser cuts out — why?
The laser diode in the RoadRunners Evolution 1D draws a short inrush spike on every trigger pull. If the new pack was installed without a full cradle charge, the cell starts below the voltage threshold the BMS needs to supply that spike cleanly, and it cuts the output to protect the cell. This is not a faulty battery — it is the BMS doing its job on a low cell. Seat the scanner in the cradle for a full charge cycle before first use, and the laser will sustain through normal scan sessions.
The scanner runs noticeably warm after a long warehouse shift — is that a battery problem?
Sustained warmth on the RoadRunners Evolution 1D is normal under combined wireless polling and continuous scan-trigger use inside an enclosed housing with limited airflow. The cell generates heat when it delivers sustained current to both the radio and the imager simultaneously. If the housing is warm but not hot to the touch, and performance is unchanged, there is no fault. If the scanner becomes too hot to hold comfortably or shuts down, check that the replacement pack dimensions match — 53.60 x 34.27 x 11.10mm — and confirm the housing closes fully with no gap compressing the cell.
The new battery drained faster on the second shift than the first — what changed?
On the first shift, the cell delivered from a full charge and the BMS operated well within its comfortable voltage range. By the second shift, if the pack was not returned to the cradle for a complete recharge between shifts, it started partially depleted — scan burst inrush pulls harder from a lower state of charge, accelerating the drain curve. Shallow partial charges between shifts also contribute: Li-ion cells in scanners with high scan-burst frequency need full charge cycles, not top-ups, to maintain shift endurance. Return the pack to the cradle until the charge indicator confirms full before each shift.
