Why the Smart Pump fails its self-test after a battery swap

Charge indicator not reaching 100% on first charge

On the first charge, the Smart Pump's charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an unrecognised cell. This means the indicator may stall at 90–95% and not advance. This is not a faulty battery — it is the charge algorithm holding back until the cell's internal resistance stabilises. Allow the pump to complete a full charge-discharge cycle, reconnect to charge, and the indicator will reach 100% on the second pass.
